Hello,

Which would be the proper setup for an M140 diode? A MicroFlex 1.5A or MicroBoost 1A both on a single 18650 battery.

Thanks!!

You would want a boost driver for 1 cell. But 1a is a very conservative setting for a M140. They can take 1.8a. I would use a 1.8a x drive and use two cells

The only problem is I'm trying to find a small driver that can fit in a module, and it seems like all of the X drives are out of stock.. where could I find some?

Look in DTR laser shop. Or contact lazeerer. Lazeerer has made me drivers for everything. Just got a M140 in a pen using his x switch driver. 1.25a gave me 1475mw. I'm sure either option would work. DTR sells modules with drivers installed in the module already

Yes the blitz buck are very good drivers :) although since they are 16.8mm round they will not fit inside a module.

A 1.5 watt pen???!?! You must have a grudge against duty cycles :p

Lol its a wicked laser e2. So it's a big pen :p. But yeah the duty cycle has been called 60 sec, but I don't even like to run it that long. Just long enough to light a cig ;)

Oh that's sweet!

So I have found the Micro Flex V6 driver and the BlitzBuck V4 which driver would do a better job at powering an M140 from 1.5W to 2W?

I've heard great things about the blitz buck. Just make sure it's 1.8a

It has a range of 1.5A to 3A and slow start features and auto shut down when it detects too much heat. It's pretty cool :)

Yeah that driver is top notch. That heat shut off is really a great feature. Will take all the guessing out of driver temperature estimates

the blitzbuck is by far the better choice for a high powered m140 build. i've used this driver myself in a few builds. you will need to power it with 2 cells, preferably 3.7v cells

Yes two cells, if your building your laser in a host where you intended to use one 18650 then just use two 16340's instead, that will work fine although if you go with 1.8A then don't buy cheap 16340's like the generic blue ones or Ultrafire, get some better ones or you will have terrible battery life. My M140 build is driven at 1.5A and with the cheap batteries they are good for a few minutes.
