So I've ordered a 2.5W 445nm laser and I was wondering what the burning capabilities are at this level. What can it burn quickly? What can it burn within 10 seconds? What can it burn within 5 minutes? How long will the diode last? Can never seem to find the right info except in 1 or 2 videos. I plan on reviewing it once i get it and including all this. Any other ideas or experiments to put in the review? All help/answers are appriciated!:yh:

My 2.1W 445 burns almost anything I point it at, even more so if I focus it to a point. There is a little burn mark in the room I was staying in on the wall from when I had it set up taking beam shots from about 5 feet away. As long as you honor the duty cycle it should last quite a while. I wouldn't leave it one more than 30 seconds depending on the heatsink involved.

Ok thanks good to know. Any specific things you've burned (on purpose)

Well I have something funny and kinda cheesy all in one. The wife doesn't really understand the fun to be had with the hobby so I burned "I love you" into a grilled cheese sandwich. No pun intended? I etched my initials into my leather 9mm holter with it as well. Out of curiosity do you have protective glasses for this?

Alright, there's a bunch of places advertising them far higher than they should, if it's from blord it's high quality.

I managed to light my desk on fire with a 2.1W laser

That's awesome :p initials in the holter as well. And yeah glasses came with the deal. I was looking at getting eagle pair, but I decided to just use the ones offered.

Red Solo cups can be cut in half with astonishing speed with a 1watt 445. A two watt will be even more fun. Easily my favorite target for 445s.

Just remember to drain the beer first....or boxed wine...depends on how you roll.

My 1.4 watt from SL will burn almost anything. It will cut through plastics and foams and even some small pieces of wood. Remember burning and cutting are different. And unless your heat sink is massive I wouldn't leave it going for 5 minutes haha.
