building a waterproof 445nm?

Id love to know more about how to build my own 445nm laser with a decent waterproof housing, I've done some digging but only really arrived at those already built, such as the rayfoss and o-like lasers (which some people have problems with, unexpected low power, leaks, etc). I'd love to just blast my cash on a laser and have done with it... but it's not quite that simple (is it ever :p).

I'm told it's often the case that building your own custom laser can give you a better quality finish for a much lower price, so how about it? A 445nm 800mw+ waterproof build?

I don't really own a lathe or such like, I wonder if there are parts i can source, or a kit maybe on the forum?

Ask flaminpyro about making a waterproof HS for an SH-032 host. I have one but I'm just waiting to build it.

Thanks very much :)

Always liked the look of that host, Ive seen a pic of the waterproof enabling heatsink somewhere iirc, what are my options regarding the driver and lens assembly?

Cheers :D

Any boost driver. The lens will be inside the laser and not focusable unless you take it apart I believe.

IMO, it is much more difficult to DIY a waterproof host unless it is a mod of a waterproof flashlight.
I find one of the easiest ways is to build your own laser module (whatever power you want) into a $12 Rayfoss waterproof host.
Now, they also sell a 1W waterproof that is focusable: www.rayfoss.com
and they claim 30 meters (~90 feet) with a 1 month / 3 month warranty. It may be worth a shot.
But, I have had several of their older lasers leak while doing depth tests.
I wouldn't trust the regular old-style below 10 feet deep. This new design may be better.

Actually, if we are just talking about waterproof housing, I think it's not so hard to find one... as there are plenty water proof flash light around, but when it comes to having focused laser shooting out from that housing... that wouldn't be easy, I have no idea how to make one that won't affect the laser's power.

Um. "Won't affect" will not happen unless the outer lens is the focusing lens, there will always be some loss due to the outer "waterproof" glass.

Non-focusing as a sacrifice for waterproof kind of sucks the large gnarly one.

Ive checked out those waterproofs on rayfoss, but which one is indeed the NEW waterproof? I see one that is very popular, odicforce sells the same, Dino direct, etc, but theres another (it looks the same as what i beleive is the old one, but now waterproof?).

Then there's that beautiful machine of a handheld 1w 'tactical' they sell on o-like. Anyone know about that? focusable under water, decent? It seems very solid (as is reflected in the price no doubt).
