Ok ill get a test load and a regulated power supply and get the laser working before I put it into the host. Also need to get a multimeter haha. I was not prepared, but i learned some things so that's good. Also thanks Garoq, your sig has a lot of good information.

Good deal. Those are three things every serious laser hobbyist should have (besides a soldering iron, solder and helping hands device).

Yes, make sure you have rosin core solder and it's easier to solder with a small diameter solder. You only need a small solder joint too. The lareger the solder joint the more of an issue you may have with trying to get the wires stuffed inside the build. Definately shrink tubing over tape. The right size is what will just slide over the solder joint before heat and you don't need a lot of extra to go really far past the joint or you will end up with that same wire flexibility issue. Silicone wire instead of whatever wire happens to be laying aroung. Silicone wire is very flexible and you also don't need a heavy gauge. In general 26awg is good for what we do although I tend to use something heavier if there is room or I'm pushing high outputs.
