Hello, im new here and I was just wondering if it was possible to change blue laser light from a 445nm 1W laser into white light using some sort of material? i know that certain projector companys use a phosphor wheel to change the light from blue to green just looking to see if white light is possible through a material or special filter/reflector??

You can make a white light DPSS laser using 445nm as the pump and Pr:pAYAC (sp?) as the crystal.

I have looked into it, and the crystals are hard to find, and expensive. It is doable though.

Now THAT's cool! white LEDs are old news...

Here's my 1.7W 445nm laser hitting a strip of Chromalit remote phosphor. Thinking of making a lamp out of it. It is very bright.

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

What is the tint of the light that is fluoresced?

It's pretty much white. Probably around 4000-5000K I think. But that depends greatly on the angle and how much original blue light mixes with the new wavelengths.

edit: the Chromalit part number is CL-750-L125-PC incase someone is interested. Got it from Digikey

Sorry, I don't have paypal and I just asked a friend to buy it for me from Digikey. Maybe you can find someone else here that is closer to your location that can order it for you.
