The blinking COULD be from the battery not giving out enough. When my battery starts to go down hill, the diode drops in and out.

Does your build not have a pill that will fit the coin like this.

Very nice build and review, plenty of pic's :) +1
I would tell you that it's not a good idea to power your laser on with the GITD dust cover in place:whistle:
Two things can happen here, first you burn off plastic and the vapors coat your lens,
second the close proximity of the reflection from the GITD materal going back into the diode could kill it :gun:
How many lenses would you like I will send you a couple.

DTR- i'm going to try that tonight. thanks!!

flaminpyro- PM sent. the dust cap was in the path of the beam, about 8 inches away. laser + dust cap =/= flashlight. i wish it did though, because that would be a pretty cool laser/flashlight...

Nice. After adhering the flexdrive to the penny did you also adhere the penny in direct contact to the hosts inner walls? The reason why this is a good mod is that it allows you to use the whole host body to disperse the heat from the driver. It will go a little longer if the penny is isolated but eventually the heat will still build up and with no where to go it will overheat again.

the way the host is built, the driver is within an aluminum tube that touches the sides and the front. it's adhered to THAT, im not sure if that counts :D it still goes through driver-penny-pill-host, and works pretty well. not quite as well as it would when adhered to the host, i guess. its a big improvement, i cant complain!
