445nm lab-style heatsinks

Maybe this can be a place we can gather some links to heatsinks for high power laser use?

My intention to this thread was this piece of metal I found on ebay.

It's 1x1 inch, 24 inches long. It has a LOT of air surface to it, which should provide excellent cooling for a laser. No fins, except the T-shapes that extrude from the middle. The long length means you get multiple heatsinks out of it too.

Anyone ever tried these before?

Do you think it would make a good heatsink for lab use? Heck, you can even put a fan on the end and it would get some good air flow between the T's :D

This would be nice for a peltier system, they have some with 3 and 4 sides too.

I also have used CPU-heatsinks (with fans), and a 12mm hole drilled in them with success for DIY labby's.

If only these did higher volts...The other one that does 4.7 is just 2mm too big for a 18650 jayrob host.

I just wondered, Besides the huge amp draw these have, would it even be good? I'd think if you wedged it between 2 copper pieces, it would work. The issue is when the heat side gets too hot, it will actually heat the cold side, causing issues.

My point is, they do make peltieres with holes in them. To stream wires from diodes through :)

They do make TEC's with holes in them, but in a portable laser they are a waste. They waste battery power, cause the host to heat up even further, and don't do anything to help the diode.

There's no dimensions but it looks like the center wouldn't accommodate a 12mm module. Good idea!
