Hello, i know I dont make many posts here, i love the forum, but my job and college stuffz do not allow me to spend much time here! lol. I have just ordered a 445nm (supposedly 500mW handheld), and I've read quite a few articles regarding them.. However, I would like to know if these diodes are unusually susceptible to output power fluctuations from higher operating temperatures? I'm almost positive that the size of the laser i ordered will not have adequete heatsinking. I have experienced this with some even low power 650nm modules. When the case heats up, i've seen them drop from 5mW, to less than 1mW... Just wanted to know what i can expect. Never owned one before, trying something diffrent. I was seriously disspointed with Blu-ray... lol :( Thanks!

usually dinodirect sells very underspec lasers :(
unless you go with "power certified" line or the ones in GB's

I heard DD indeed usually sells underspec lasers. However, the "Certified Power Guaranteed" line is pretty good. I ordered a 532nm 300mW from this line and it actually came 400mW with peaks around 500mW (after IR filter!!!).

1. was this from the GB that rhd was hosting?
2. did you get the 400mw and 500mw mixed up?
because the output usually lowers after you install the ir filter..

It was not from his GB, but it was the same product. I bought the 300mW model, and it is doing 400mW stable. I'm pretty sure it already had the IR filter, since after adding it the power dropped only like 20mW or so.
