im building a 445nm for the second time

im using a 1W resistor for lm317 driver

i tried hooking it up outside of my mohrenberg host and it seemed pretty good, but i can't seem to get it to focus,
it has a big dot radius and then a small dot in the middle

im not sure if the raw output looks like what it should be

the results dont seem as powerful as what everyone else gets

im gonna assemble it in the host now and see if it works

btw im using these batteries, could they be the reason why its so weak

You are giving not much information about the build.

What current is the LM317 set ?
What lens are you using ? It could be that you put the lens the wrong end in.
How is the raw output ?

Double check that the diode in pressed in counter sunk, and make sure the lens is not backwards. Both are common issues.

woooh success, im not sure how strong it is but it doesnt seem as powerful as what other people post pictures of, doesn't look like it can burn anything =[

a 1W resistor should give me 1 amp right?

perhaps the lm317 is overheating or batteries arent strong enough

it doesnt hurt when i point it on my hand

You are using cr2's? You know those things probably have like 200mah capacity? AW cr2s are 300 mah.

Plus an lm317 driver drops way too much voltage to use just 2 cells. I have no clue where you are getting this 1W resistor for 1A thing. If you are talking about a 1 ohm resistor then it would give you 1.25A if you had enough voltage and better batteries.

uhhh its the blue one, iunno what its called hotlights i think?

but anyways, would my batteries right now work with mohgasm's linear driver?

Yeah.

The only way you could use the driver you have now is if you used the original 3x AAA holder for 3x 10440 batteries. But you would have to lower the current by about half because the batteries couldn't handle 1.25A

alright... so im guessing i'm only getting around 300 mW or less

right now i see a nice beam and it makes my 30mW green and 100mW phr-803t seem pathetic

okay i will buy the driver first thanks again

btw whats the diff between my 15266 right now and the 16340

15266 are smaller and have lower capacity. They cant provide as much current as 16340's.

okay okay, i buy now <3

you have any 16340 batteries you recommend to buy

there labelled 500maH, and they seem around the same as my 15266s

but ill buy some anyways

okay so i popped in moh's linear driver, but still using 2x cr2 batteries

i still have a weak output

im guessing my diode is zombie'd once again?

*** so if my batteries cant handle 1.25A, would the power be drastically decreased
