I'm in the beginning stages of a 445 build.

The host I'm looking at getting is http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/fs-guidesman-18650-host-heatsink-20-a-57191.html

In DTRs review of this host he says that microboost drivers need to have a workaround. Should I go with a flexdrive instead and is http://hacylon.case.edu/ebay/laser_diode/Micro_FlexDrive.php a good place to order them also, is the glass lens from this worth ordering or should i go with the Aixiz glass 405 from ebay?

Diode
Aixiz module
Driver
Host/heatsink
Battery/charger

Am i forgetting anything here

and also, I'm not completely sure how to connect the wires from both the diode and the driver so any help on that would be awesome

Go with the flex for higher currents and if you got the money grab a lens, looks like you got everything, depending how high current you want, you may need to do the "gold dollar driver heat sink mod" if you want high wattage. This is listed on DTR's page about the guidsman build.

connecting the diode to driver can be tricky depending on your driver. when you choose your host and we know what battery you are using then we can recommend a driver and go from there.

I'm planning on using an 18650 Li battery along with the guidesman host made on this page http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/fs-guidesman-18650-host-heatsink-20-a-57191.html

Honestly anywhere from 800-1000mw would be suffient for me.
also on this site you can pay 2$ to have them preset the current. Would this be a good idea and is this a reputable seller of drivers?

Yes this is from the man who builds them him self, Dr.lava.
I suggested this driver as it works perfect for this host and is used in DTR's review/guide for the Guidesman host. I assumed your battery to be an 18650, as this is suggested for this host because it fits Perfect :D

You can down load how to connect your driver in various ways by looking in the upper right hand corner of the link http://hacylon.case.edu/ebay/laser_d..._FlexDrive.php

You should get it preset because they can be hard to set with there small size.

Edit: Chip.. I don't know if you noticed, he had already said he has a guidesman host, battery and everything but the driver...

then in that case i would stick with the flexdrive v5 if you can find one. i have a similar set up around 1600ma. i make things the hard way so i'm not the best person to tell you how to set it up though, sorry.

michael.
