i used a 5 mode LED driver from a single cell, it lases, the Vf of the 445 diode is too much for it to hit full current (around 1050mA), im not sure of the power out of my build as im waiting for my LPM to return, id imagine it would be well under 1000mW.

Crap, I have a TR-801 with a 3 mode driver. I'd imagine it would work the same way.

That is a cool looking host!!!
I really like the size and shape.
What are you planning to use for a heat sink?

Be sure to post pictures when finished.

Pictures are in the OP.

I machined a heat sink on my lathe that fits an Aixiz module- picture 5.

I will be replacing the diode and installing a micro flexdrive v5 instead of the 3 mode driver.

It won't have 3 modes but at least I will have a working laser:D

This kind of driver in most cases cant handle more than 4.2volts, the voltage of a single battery, if the flashlight had a output of 120 lumen maybe the driver push 750ma I dont know if you guys know, but in dealextreme you can find a lot of drivers;
