Howdy all again. Just posted one of my builds yesterday, take a look and let me know.(not a lot of input so far for a non-CNC made host and laser:cryyy:)
http://laserpointerforums.com/f42/bride-frankenstein-58519.html
But on to new and exciting things!

This here is my 10440 battery powered, a-140 445nm Micro Build!

The host: TrustFire CREE XP-E Q3 LED 50 Lumens AAA Flashlight A7
TrustFire CREE XP-E Q3 LED 50 Lumens AAA Flashlight A7 - eBay (item 330451796588 end time Dec-12-10 00:19:24 PST)
Diode: a-140 445nm from DTR:thanks:
Driver: Flexdrive set at 750mA(a bit high but...what the hell)
(duty cycle...."...mmmm, that feels warm in my hand, I should turn it off for a bit...")
Battery: TrustFire 10440 3.7v 600mA

On to some pics of the build.

First a picture of the flashlight before I butchered it and switched a few pieces around.

In this one...you can kind of see that I took apart the rear clicky. It seperated into two parts. One part served as an extended piece for the front so I could fit the driver, the other I removed the original clicky and replaced it to fit.

[/IMG]

This is the part that came off the back and now will hold the positive connection end and wires for the driver.

Here I soldered the spring, positive and negative wires. Ready to install in the middle piece.

All installed. Wires to to driver, spring to positive battery pill.

The Aixiz module, just fits into the top part of the flashlight. Perfect, if you don't mind the housing being the heat-sink.(again look above for duty cycle info:beer:)

I have forgot to take a picture, but I had to cut the back end of an Aixiz module down to help fit the space correctly and be able to screw the top on without twisting the diode and driver. sorry all for not showing that.

So we will go on instead to the completed laser!

And as always with all my builds......
THE PROOF!(almost more for me than you:na:)

Thanks ya'll for looking. Hope it was somewhat enjoyable and perhaps even may drive some to make a laser of their own!:na:

Nice compact build. Iono if this is feasible anymore, but you might consider turning down the driver. One thing to keep an eye on is how much current you are pulling from the battery. Check it right off the charger and also check it once the battery is starting to get low. I'm worried that it may be trying to pull too much current from your cell.

I do really like the compactness of this build. I don't have fat fingers, but still no way could I do all that. I also looked at your CF build, very nicely done. It has an almost modern steampunkish look to it.

Thanks for looking. Both took some time thinking how they would work.
As far as turning down the driver, I most likely wont take it apart again.
The pull on the battery is very close to max I would think....and its okay with me if it doesn't last that long on a charge. I wanted to see if I could do it, and it worked. There also is no heat-sink for the aixiz module so to speak, except the housing...so duty cycles are short on this one:whistle:
A question though, what happens if you do pull...'too much'..current on the cell? Does it just deplete faster or can it do damage?

what i like about it, is that it looks like an origianl piece. Like it came from the factory that way. good job!!!

I've heard of cells exploding. Thats what those protected batteries, well, protect against. Correct me if I'm wrong..Batteries aren't my area of expertise.

Could be that's what happens......Mine seems to be doing okay with my build, not explosions yet at least;)
