Wow these Ophir sensors got pretty expensive the past years. Paid <$300 for my nospin back in 2010. We need to find a cheaper source for them again..

With raising laser-power, more hobbyist should be able to purchase one.

Does anyone on the forum has this 5W LaserBee LPM? Would like to see it in action.


I asked already asked this question in the deleted thread, the different response times (35-45sec, 45-55sec) at the different models, is it the room temperature that determine if respomnse time is 35sec or 45sec for example?

The last Nospin LPMs sold for $399 plus Shipping costs..
It should be noted that for that price the LPM does not include
a manual Zeroing circuit or any Data Logging.

I suppose it does not seem logical or evident to a layman that
different specs on different LPM models may be due to the fact
that they may use different materials in their respective parts
lists.

BTW... we are and have been working on a newly redesigned
(electronics) 5W LaserBee + Data Logging that will break the
<$500 price barrier soon.
Watch for it on eBay...

Yes, that´s why I mentioned back in 2010 ;) Actually it was $279 before shipping on 10th of October 2010 (for the record). Guess they raised in price due to the lack of the good Ophir head price Kenom, nospin and you got a few years ago.

Yes, you´re right, data logging, for example, is a nice and useful extra.

The 5w version is actually a sweet deal when you consider the faster acting C20 plus data logging.

The nospin LPM also uses the 20C-A if it is that what you mean..

DIY data logging is available open source these days.


No threadjacking, just wanted to clear up wrong statements.

I´m sure the 5W LaserBee is a great hobbyist power meter :beer:

That is true the nospin LPM is pretty much the same but with a display that can data log as well. They are both good meters.

laserbee (Jerry) hasn't been around here for a few years now; you could try his site, J. Bauer Electronics, or his store on ebay. You could mention LPF, but I doubt that would get get you any discount.

There is an alternative option for sale by an LPF member "astralist", it's the Hyperion LPM, it looks like a good LPM at a reasonable price.
