Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

can someone explain the testing a little more? ive got a phr803 diode with 1 3.7v battery and when i measured the current across r10 it said .016. if what i read above is correct that means im pushing 160ma to the ld?

got in my order of a few flexdrives yesterday. Thanks DrLava.

I'm not too excited about doing the SMD soldering with the pots to make them low power though...   :-/ it seems that we're buying the high power ones for $2 more... maybe you could make each the same price as they are the same thing, or increase the price of the low power ones and have the pots already on there?

You won't have to do any smd soldering with the rev. 2. Once the new boards arrive, I'll modify the checkout page to reflect the new offerings. hmm, may even do that now.
thanks!

You are supposed to measure the voltage across R10. Measuring the current across R10 compromises the circuit operation. When you get the voltage, multiply by 10 and that's the current.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

hey dr. lava i want to order a few more drivers but can you add some of the potentiometers to my order? the 2 drivers i bought got mucked up somehow(well 1 was my fault with the epoxy, the other 1 the "knob" fell off)

Dr. Lava,
The spec's for the "Flex-Drive" state that it will run anything >= 2.5v, so just to verify, these will not work for driving the 808nM "pump-diodes that Senkat is selling, according to Hemlock Mike, these are running just under 2volts. :-/

Correct, you would need to put a diode in series with the laser diode for it to work.

I believe its a 5k trimmer pot for the high range and 30k trimmer for low range. I assume that means 5k ohm & 30k ohm variable.. i may be wrong though.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Hello,

At first: im pretty new to all this (Blu-Ray)-Laser stuff, so sorry for any mistakes.
Since I figured out a few days ago that you all extract the Blu-LD from Xbox 360 HD Drives, I did as well and broke the glass in the Diode. :( The LD was put into a first Housing and after removing this the LD was "sorrounded" by something that looked like a Donut :D. So I tried to press the Diode out from the Front and thats when the Glass went away :( then I tried taking out the Glass and thats where ended the "Life" of it :((. So now I wanna start REAL:

I made a List and I need you to tell me, whether this will work (and if i should do/buy it like that):

Blu-Ray sled with LD from:

laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1216205287

(any better Place? + is this also put into a "Donut-Housing"?)

Micro Flex-Drive from here

(This goes to thread-Creator: You only accept GC? I only have Paypal since i dont own a Creditcard + You ship to Germany?)

Aixiz Diode Housing(with Lens):

from Stonetek.org

Dorcy Jr. Housing:

from Stonetek.org

Thats it.

Greets from Germany and sorry for my bad english :)

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Hi, sorry to hear about the LD troubles. You might want to try a hex-head security bit to pop the diodes out of the donut. The bit has a hole in the center that will avoid stresses on the cover glass.
I do accept paypal, PM me your ppl address and we can get squared away. I also have aixiz plastic collimators available (see the checkout page)

Your list looks good, you also may need a heatsink for the dorcy.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

I read that "Donut" only covers(heat-sinks) the Diode in 811 sleds. I will buy a 803 sled so this problem is no longer. You think I really do NEED a heatsink? I´m not that type of guy who tries to push out every last mw to get best results :) But If I buy one, do i have to change/cut something in the Dorcy housing? How big is a collimator and do I use it instead of the lense from the Aixiz(or as a lense)?
