Vacation time.

I am going on vacation Friday and then away on business for the next 3 weeks after that. I may be able to squeeze out a White Fusion kit on the weekends I am back.

Thanks,

Ryan

Pyro --

Nice work you did (and others) to build this kit. I have too many projects now as it is or I'd get one.

Nice! These kits are sweet.
What is the total power Flaminpyro?

@ ZRMWA the alignment can be tricky kinda back and forth but it's worth it :yh:

I just measured a peak of 191mW out...

EDIT: Just turned off my WF after two hours of running tonight :D it was like 50 min on and a few min rest then 1 hour or longer on and a few min rest then 40 more min on, last night after and durring final alignment it ran for 20min on and a few min off, then 45 min on then off. there's no case yet so this is in open air with finned heatsinks on the semiconductors and a small pc fan blowing on everything, nothing gets above room temp and power out peak is 191mW :D
the RED is a de-canned GGW red. the blu is a de-canned 8x WH08LS20. the green is a DX 100mw module that was stable and had good power output at 84mW, it dose take some warm up.
These are the best thing since sliced bread, Thanks a TON Ryan for making this a hat trick in comparison to what rog8811 went through to do this beautiful laser :thanks: to both of you !

Congrats Pseudo!

Did your Green replacement just drop in and work or did you have to redo the mirror?

Thanks Mike!

Ryan: I blew my previous green module while aligning the turning mirror, since the epoxy still had a while left to harden, I gave up on it at the time.
I think I may have to redo it again, too.. I'm not sure, but I think part of my red beam is exiting the turning mirror along the 45 degree cut... I forgot my camera at work or I'd try and take a pic. I think I mounted my mirror too close to the PBS; the angled face is a couple mm out from the rectangular hole in the sled wall, whereas I think ideally it should be sunk into that side.

Got mine today! Great build quality.

First things first, checked the power on my scanner to see if it was alright. Hooked her up and turned her on. Drivers instantly short out and fuse blows on the whole house.

:(

No doubt due to my electronics incompetence somehow... So what can I do with this kit then? I don't really have the electronics experience to fix this or do anything, so I don't know what to do with it.

Alright, so I've been ridiculously busy with the work project that could well define my entire future career, but that's over and it's back to lasers.

So the kit has been left back at my parents and I won't get back to it for another 4 months. But I did do some more tests and I'd say it was shot. Still not completely sure what happened, but I don't really care. Time to see what I can about repairing.

For some background info I bought a 12kpps RGY scanner and a matching DAC (Moncha, excellent quality DAC) a while ago for about $600. These were great and I certainly had fun messing around and tweaking them, but I wanted to get some more colors out of it. When I saw this White Fusion kit it was perfect, shame about my badluck though.

This project has got too a stage where the fun is over and my lack of experience with electronics is getting expensive. So firstly I couldn't for the life of my fix my White Fusion kit, sightfx are you up to look at it, or maybe someone else with electronics experience can have a go?

Secondly, this is an interesting offer, but is someone interested in taking up this entire project and trying to get it working? This is not because I'm lazy, I'm just way out of my depth in a sea of very expensive things, and it would be safer if someone more capable has a look. I'll cover any costs, naturally. If anyone is even interested in buying all these parts too I'd be up for that. Lets say $800 USD, and you get all the parts for a 12kpps RGV full analog scanner, comes with a professional DAC and software to run it. Some assembly required, lol. For any trusted member of these forums they can have a "repair first, pay later" clause so that if they can't repair it, nothing will be wasted.

So, interesting offer there. If you're great at electronics and have an interest in scanners, here's an opportunity for you, lol.

Can anyone tell whether or not I've misaligned my mirror here?

Looking at the mirror while the laser is on, it seems the red/violet beams exit the turning mirror out the faceted face of the mirror... Should I try this again, putting the mirror further into the notch in the side of the sled?

My beam has a red speckled halo around it, as if the lens was dirty. I'm wondering if I've just misaligned things a bit. (there's also a chance my lens is in fact dirty or the PBS has some dust on it, I'm not really sure, and I'm getting sick of tearing this thing apart all the time)
