I was looking again at the pens, and it looks like they have pieces on the front that are designed to cover the focusing ring on a laser module. Does it look really tacky if you don't put it all the way in and the cover on, or does it still look OK?

Most people don't use the front cap, but just have the AixiZ module set 'flush' with the front of the pen...

That way, only the focus ring is exposed. Then you can use a silicone cap as a dust cap.

*Strokes my beard* Yes, that makes plenty of sense. Also, just wanted to make sure: you said if you get an Aixiz module super hot, then some solder will take. Does it need to be sanded for additional surface area, or just heated up and some rosin put on to ensure clean contact?

I didn't need to sand it, but that's probably a good idea, because the solder will probably adhere easier to brass, than chrome...

Another thing you could do instead of the solder blob method, is to strip some copper wire and have some get 'pinched' between the module and the host...

I have never tried fitting a Groove driver, but the I.D. is 12mm, a perfect fit to slide in an AixiZ module...

GoRdOn_B, I sent your black Pen host with switch board today. (Monday)

Thanks!

The Groove says it's 15mm wide. Do you know if anyone makes a driver with 2V or less dropout, that will fit in these hosts?

Using a FlexDrive, these builds are great for red or blu-ray...

But they can fit a rkcstr as well for red...

I'm sure there are some other guys making boost circuits, but I don't know whether there are any for sale or not...

I know there are some drivers at o-like and maybe RayFoss, but I haven't personally tested them, so I cannot say how they work...

It doesn't need to be boost, I can use two 10440s. I just need a dropout voltage around 2V or less. Eudamonium (or however you spell his name) is working on some boost circuits, but his could be a while off, and I *might* be looking for something soon. And I hear the O-Like drivers get kind of iffy at their 200mA max, and if I use a GGW I'll want to run it at 200mA. I guess, though, I could get around 200mW or so with an SF-AW210 at 170mA with your 405-G-1 lens, and most people (who've used it) said that 170mA is alright for the O-like driver. So, I guess I'll be doing that, just as soon as I have an order or have money for one for myself.

Eudaimonium <- you forgot one 'i' there
Like I said many times before, you can just type in JZ instead of my entire nickname, I'll take notice.

With 1117 linear driver and 2x 10440 batts, it will be a nice pen style bluray.
With boost converter inside, you don't need charger nor li-ions.

It's up to you.

The O-Like says it takes 3-5V input, so it *seems* to not be able to run on two Ni-MH.

I see you now are offering switches for your pen builds. Nice!

I want to do a build like RA_Pierce. Where the aixiz is recessed incorporating the aperture cap from the host.

How long is the switch assembly??

Well it sticks out past the black plastic mounting piece, but since it's a blank board, you can just sand it shorter if needed...

How about the black plastic housing?
When its inserted in the host, how much length is left in the black pointer.
I know your specs say it is 42mm from the tip to the center of the button hole.
