i also have my laster chrome build... here jay... i did not use the lock for the laser because i want my BR to be focusable...

Just curious about the chrome one... Is it a full length AixiZ module? I believe that there is room inside for a full length module to fit flush...

Yea I've got that same exact host, and the end of my module (no lens) is about 2mm back from the end of the host. That pic looks odd to me.

oh yeah well thats the whole aixiz module.. but i did not press it down all the way. the reason is that in case i will repair or replace diodes the module will be easy to remove. because if i push it further.. it will no be easy to full out.

It should be no problem to extract the module with a plier if only the focusing ring extends from the end of the brass tube. If the driver/button circuit board is glued to the black plastic curcuit board mount, you could push everything out with a pencil, some batteries or a chopstick from the rear end, like I did multiple times with the chrome host before i got the right "clicky" feedback feel from the button (I only pushed it to the point where I could pull the rest of it out with a plier). These hosts were my first build. It was easier than the included description said it was. :na:

well thats good for you for me i dont want doing the pushing the hard way. and i want it easy.. nice idea you have given me there.. but of course we all have our differences. i guess mine will have its uniqueness

Just received the black pen today. Very good pen host for a good price
Put it together in minutes. Very easy build!!

Waiting on my rayfoss driver / 10440s to arrive.
However I got the button/spring/module all set.
Using the case as positive.

Only hard part was that I had to sand the aixiz module a little. It was a bit fat for the host. But it's a nice tight fit now.

One question:

For case positive, I can solder the + pin on the PHR to the middle pin, correct?

Why not set it up case negative??

Also, it depends on what driver you are using...

Case negative can work too. This means the - of battery touches tailcap right?

Also, I realized something. Its easy to center the button BUT it moves around. I mean when I insert AAA batteries it wiggles the button around. (I haven't put on the outside button yet.

How do I secure the button in the host???

I'm thinking, drop crazy glue from the hole and quickly slide in the button/spring assembly and position it quick.

Btw, I will be using rayfoss driver.

Any advantages of case negative over case positive ???

About the glue... yes, I use a very small drop, but not from the side button...

That area needs to be clean, and able to bend and depress the switch.

Put a drop of glue on something like a toothpick, and apply it at the plastic switch mount from the front of the pen. Not too much. You may need to take it apart some day...

Ahh ok, so get the glue in from the front.

The wire will get long though. Hmm, I guess I can measure the space and glue the module to the plastic switch mount with a small spacer in between to get the button centered.

So I wont have to glue the mount. Since the module is a fairly tight fit, gluing the mount to it would stop it from moving.


Also I read lavas documentation. It doesn't tell if there's a difference between case negative vs case positive other than the way it's wired.

So if I go case negative, + driver to + diode and middle PHR pin to - diode correct?

Just remember that if the battery negative it towards the tail cap, then the entire pen host IS the battery negative...

So with a blu-ray diode, all you have to do is solder the diode case pin to the diode negative pin, and then wire those two pins to the driver negative. (this is for a FlexDrive build)

The rayfoss driver is setup to be case positive. Look at the pic, you have anode, cathode, and case pin. And you'll just use one 10440 and a spacer.
