Although my recent 4x Igor build is great, I've gotta' get a 6x nowwww!!

Mail sent.

Haha, you're not the only one.. ;)

Sam also has a 4x, but ordered a 6x, in fact his was in the first 6x batch, as he was among those, who made downpayments, which helped me procure the elusive 6x's at all!

Now that i sorted the prepaid orders out, the rest of the 6x's is available for anyone, who wants a 6x laser. ;)
Man, i still find it hard to believe i finally have 6x's, even after finishing a full batch of them! I've been on the hunt for them so long, that they almost seem magical to me..  ;D

Oh well, back to work. I have some last extras to wrap up and ship.

BTW. you and Th0ughts brought the counter from 11 to 9, and i was told it might soon get even lower. Then it's just make and ship, and we're there.... ;)

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

I've received several emails asking the same question....

I DID manage to finish the last of it before leaving! :)

At the moment i'm away on business, i will return on Saturday. I can be reached via e-mail or PM, but i will probably only be able to reply once a day - in the evening (If there are any emails i have not replied yet, i will try to do so this evening).

When i get back, i will sort through all the data i collected, make the graphs and send everyone their individual diode and laser specs... ;)

In the meanwhile more 6x's should arrive, i think they will be waiting for me, when i return, so i can do the next batch right away.. :)

For now i have some work. Real work this time. Nothing to do with lasers.. :(

EDIT: Before leaving the computer behind for the day, i decided to check the 6x package tracking..
The second 6x package cleared customs a few hours ago! :D

This means they will be delivered TODAY! Oh, how i wish i was home now.. :(

But at least they WILL be waiting for me, when i return! This means next up are the two MaxMass-Dorcy's then the CR123 sidebutton hosts, and then the next batch of Romisens... ;)

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Look at the first post. The very first one. Says it all... ;)

My main model:
- The classic model with a PHR is $215.
- The same model with a 6x is $45 more - $260. That is $260 for a 6x laser! I paid $350 just for a 6x diode a few months ago, and i was happy, never regretted it!

Other models:
- The CR123 side buttom model is $15 more (+ $13 with the Ap-Cap - looks better and protects the lens from dust).
- The "Tiny Monster" is $20 less than the main model.. It is mostly meant for PHRs at 115-125mW. But it could actually support a 6x with a 3-5 minute duty cycle! (hence the nickname)
- There is also a special version of the Tiny in preparation. That one is designed specifically for 6x's. But i'm not posting details just yet. But if you want a REALLY TINY 6x without power or duty cycle restrictions, drop me an email and i might show it to you.... ;)

Love your new laser designs Igor espically the tiny AAA ;D

No, make that 8 more to go 'cause I'm in too :D

Romisen w/170mW 6x and pre-order for the AR-coated glass...  :p

It took me, oh... 3 1/2 hrs to sift through this thread & when I was done I couldn't write to him fast enough, lol! To think I've been wandering from one flaky online dealer to the next in search of anything that's not trash, only to find that the best bang for your buck is here, among the likes of IgorT, Kenom, Jayrob, Daguin, and the other masters of the trade :)

This is going to be an expensive hobby but if I can support the "locals" economically, then it will have added value

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Some people asked for more pics of the CR123 side buttom host.

Here is a picture showing two side by side, with and without the Ap-Cap... On this one i much prefer the way it looks WITH the Ap-Cap.

It has a self contained and fully enclosed All-in-One Heatsink/module inside, just like my other lasers. It's just designed to fit this particular host snugly.

This host is assembled from the top. In the picture without the Ap-Cap you can see a golden ring. That ring is what usually holds down the flashlight guts. Now it holds down the heatsink, pressing it against the negative contact in the bottom of the head.

The heatsink is such a snug fit, that if i hold the laser upside down without the ring, the heatsink won't fall out, it will slowly glide out, since vacuum holds it back! When it warms up and expands, it presses against the walls of the host, creating good thermal transfer into it, when it is needed the most.. ;)

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Another picture of it in my hand for size reference. On the right, next to my "Classic" model..

It is shorter, but slightly more massive. The Ap-Cap makes it almost as long as the main model.

I think i have one or two of these left...

P.S. It's not very visible in these pics, but it has a clip extending from the button down... The clip can also be taken out..
I modify this clip just a little, so that it doesn't scratch the finish, when removing the body from the head. Not that that is ever required during normal use..

The switch is a sidebutton clicky, not a momentary button.

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Wow, i spent all day yesterday just typing in the PIV data for the first batch 6x's!

I should not have done the graphs in such a high resolution. 6x's don't have kinks anyway, so even just four data points would give the same graph in most cases.

Anyway, i'll try to finish all the graphs this evening, then i'll send them to everyone. ;)

Any update on the lasers? I thought it would be best to post rather than annoy you with more emails :D. This way everyone can see (also the thread needed to be bumped, page 3!).

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Make that 7 more to go...

I ordered one a couple days ago too!  My 1st laser since building a small HeNe setup when I was 15yrs old - purchased from Meredith Instruments.  Believe it or not, that one laser lasted 8 full years of normal use.  And man was the beam precise on that thing...

I am thrilled to have stumbled on to this post, and this forum, and to be a soon-owner of a Batch 2.  It's not often you meet someone who "builds the best of the best".  The driver, the host, the fit & finish, are second to none from what I can tell from reviews. Igor has been awesome to work with on this purchase.  I am most likely buying a 300mW Red from him soon to compliment the Blu Ray.  After that? I'm going to work on a reddish/orangish I think.  We'll see, economy is rough here in the States.  But lasers give me a good excuse to not go out, right?   ::)

6x 180mW in the Classic Romisen Host - also ordered batteries, charger, tripod, clamps, etc from DX!  I'm like a kid waiting for Santa at Xmas...  ;D Oh and put me down for 2 of the GB lenses as well - one for 'Ol Blu and one for 'Big Red' that I haven't bought YET.

I'll be posing a review on LPF after I receive mine - and as a special treat for those of you with good monitors or TVs - I will add photos and video shot at 1080 HD of the unit, beam, etc!

Re: FS: >110mW PHR, >140mW 4x & >170mW 6x Blu-Rays

Oh wow...I'm getting kind of excited watching this thread. ;D I cannot wait to see this new "special" tiny 6x blu-ray laser! Even though I am very short on money, I may have to buy one. ;) ;) BTW, how much are you planning on charging for that 6x tiny laser? I understand the diodes do cost more :-/

I just bought a car and am literally completely out of money... But I may just have to save up for one of these lasers ;D

Oh! And I if did buy a laser in the future, could it be safely shipped to the U.S.? Or would it be taken out of the mail? (that sure would suck!)

Thanks!

And GL on all you experimenting ;)

Funny you should write that because I was thinking about asking Igor to build me a "twin" Romisen in 2xxmW 635nm Red :) As far I read, the 635nm Diodes are no different than the more typical 650s but for whatever reason, less in demand... .

I think that would make for one unique laser, an IgorT 635nm  :D

So what do you think, Igor...?  :p
