If it worked when you shook it, the pins were not all bridged. Are they bridged now? The case pin might be bridged to its neighbour intentionally - is this what you're seeing?

too be completely honest with you, I can't tell you for sure at this moment. The laser is still at my dads office as I didn't want to move it around more and break it more.
I will be able to take pictures tomorrow and tell you for sure.

Absolutely not. This doesn't solve the case though.

Why not? if the negative and positive were soldered together, you say it would not lase. But which pins were soldered originally? bhwollen?

Just send the damn laser to bhwollen to sort things out. Jeez. If you wanted a fully functional laser, you would not care that much for shipping. BUYER needs to cover return shipping. That is all

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

i would say find a good reputable Canadian member ship to then going international is a headache and a half.
Buyer normally covers shipping back to seller and then seller pays for shipping back.
Only on big obvious blunders do the sellers pay for return shipping.
if you ship to another member pay for shipping both ways.
No need to make someone helping you for free have to pay.

I'm on Ben's side here... if your car breaks, and you take it in for repairs, do you pay for the gas to repair it? Do you pay for the parts? Do you pay for gas the way back? Unless there is a specified warranty, this is *always* the case.

Not at all my intentions, as I have said to those who PM'ed me. If I send it to another member I will pay all expenses as it is not their fault this laser was badly constructed.

And bw isn't offering to send it back or to fix it free and he isn't even guaranteeing a fix.

I will pay shipping to bwhollen if he is correct in saying it costs 11 bucks, but im not paying parts or shipping back.

Many times there is a warranty. Also cars isn't a very good example, because that whole system is built on almost scamming customers.
I would say other electronics are a better example, and you know what the deal usually is if you buy an electronic online and it doesn't work? You send it back for refund. Even if there isn't a warranty most people in business know to keep happy customers, and they may even feel guilt for sending a bad product.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

well that may be. but if the diode is broken that is 33$ min to replace for must users is between 40 and 55. its not an easy fix.
This may be a time to split the difference. your both at a loss have him return what was not material cost and use that money to pay a member to fix it.
Sellers hate returning the profit margin and hate the thought of it more.
but as long as no one is in the hole they should be satisfied.
Sorry if this is an unpopular opinion or maybe a bit much for the situation but i think all thats needed to be said for.
some picture would be nice like you said those are coming tomorrow. so until then.

And this is usually in the case that you get a REFUND or a GUARANTEED *free* fix

I don't mind splitting some kind of difference I just don't want to sink more money into this laser that was supposed to be working to begin with.

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

hey upperlever.
i live less than 20 min from the mi canada border.
where are u based?
Dave he said the module was twisting when he tried to focus it.
that was not him opening it.
the setscrew was lose

Maybe I missed something. All I see him reporting is the "focus ring" being almost out and then he screwed it in better

Also, "rough handling" should not have loosened the set screw, eh?

Peace,
dave

I did open up the laser, but he claims I did so eve though I did not know how to do so without twisting the wires.
BTW bw, how would you have suggested I opened it WITHOUT twisting the wires, the top end was in there so loose.

Again, pics coming tomorrow.
