Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

One of the simplest ways to lockout a deceptive/Scamming seller
would be to put a sticky on the TOP of the B/S/T and Pro Shop
sections warning potential buyers NOT to do business with seller
that are in the RED as to reputation.

We.. the Forum Community can easily Supply FREE Neg reps to
those type of seller to make sure they stay in the RED...

Anyone still wanting to do business with a Seller in the RED and
gets screwed would be on their own..

By his is own actions... BW has single handedly reduce his Rep
points down to 102....
It will only take a total of 205 combined member Rep Powers to
bring him into the Red and can then be Flagged as a member NOT
to do business with.

If he comes back as another member.... we will no doubt sniff him
out... after all we do have our own bloodhound...;)

It's sad to see him go, but I suppose it was necessary. I just wish he had manned-up and taken the blow.

Its not sad at all.... he asked for it by doing the "stick my head
in the sand" and "F%$k You" routine...

it is rpaloalto (it's a location with telescopes :p)

I also second rpaloaltos opinion...he should never ever be allowed to join this community again!
Not for all the money in the world!

Guys I suggested the "if he wants to come back...." scenario knowing full well that it's not likely to ever happen.

If he wants to though, I want him to provide a benefit to the forum, even if it is only a large one time donation.

I'm digging al the tags:)
I'm responsible for the darkarmyofone tag. I figure it's Tyler Sweet's curse, to alway have his member name constantly associated with all scammers past and future..

"he" doesn't count anymore...the "we" is what counts ;)

Certainly I agree that what he wants doesn't matter anymore.

I just don't think the ban the bad apple mentality works on the internet.

I mean who is a buyer more likely to buy from...

1.) A member who has a terrible reputation and is in the red,

or

2.) New member with no reputation, good or bad.

I definitely would not buy from either.....

Re: VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with 'bhwollen'

That is a good point..
But if he is smart he would create a new account if banned or not...just to sell.
So the "don't ban the bad apple" system doesn't work flawlessly ;)

What happens if we do let him back? Say he makes a $300 donation. Do we let him back.
If we do, then we would have to let other scammers back also. Anyone could just say sorry for being a dick and send money to avery and be to let back in?

Let them come on back.... but not for free, and not to sell.

Besides, these situations don't arise that often that they can't be addressed on a one by one basis.

Just because they are allowed to post doesn't mean that we can't keep an eye on them and prevent them from selling using the rep system.

I think having to shell out say $300 is more of a punishment than simply banning someone.

Nothing works flawlessly... but doing nothing works even less...

Pay to re-join is not a viable option..
We are all here and are allowed to use the Forum as a
privilege granted to us by the LPF Admin.

If I was to pay to get back in... that is now a paid right and
no longer a privilege where the Admin is in control....
It would just open up another can of legal worms... IMO

Many bus lines will kick you off the bus if you're being disruptive - and not return your fare. In every single paid online game, the user can get banned. It's in the EULA. There is legal precedent; the can of worms has already been opened and dealt with.

However, paying to become unbanned defeats the entire purpose of the banning... so I would say that's a pretty bad idea.

As you say... we are not on a Paid journey Bus...
Nor are we on a Paid On Line Game... This Forum does not
require up front fees.

This is still a FREE admission Forum run by the Admin and
governed by the TOU ....

BTW you have me at a loss... what legal can of worms are
you referring to that has been dealt with...

What I said is that there are paid services in which the terms of use state that, in the event of a user abusing the service, a user can be banned and not be refunded. Happens all the time.

So if we decided to allow bhwollen to bribe his way back in (won't happen), he would not have the right to use the forum - it would still be a privilege that Avery could choose to revoke at any time, so long as that was added to the terms of use.

Sorry if I wasn't clear the first time. :p
