I'm deciding whether to go into hiding or pay up. What could possibly go wrong if I just disappear foreveR?

First of all it will mean that your laser hobby will forever be lacking a large amount of info and good deals.
Secondly, you could easily be sued for this. I am studying law and we have just been working on some different compensation cases. I know the laws in the US make it even easier to pursue someone legally.
Even if John is too nice or can't be bothered to file a lawsuit, it is easy to contact your parents and hear what they have to say.

EDIT: It is worth a similar unit or whatever you and John can agree on. $100 is a VERY cheap way to get out of this, I would sell anything I could to get that money quick or borrow the money, pay it now and pay back to whoever you borrowed it from (parents?) by selling stuff, getting a job or simply saving up.

Potatorage: He has provided pictures of beamshots from the laser you had for 8 months, which clearly show it was not just some 5mW laser. He doesn't need more proof than that.

Ill keep an eye out for a LPM sale thread potatorage, ill give you the remaining 6 days to sell it If it doesnt go well off the bat, you may have to lower the sale price to reach your debt.

Once the payment is received, ill send the laser back to you. I have no problem doing that.
Its a shame it had to come to this to be honest.

I've already offered to buy the LPM off potorage to try and sort this out.

Mate seriously this is going to go away so much quicker if you just pay him, if you try and wriggle your way out of it i'm sure things will just get worse and worse.

As much as I want to, I'll wait for other members opinion on the matter after this has been resolved. We've got time, we haven't even started round 2.

potato, first i'm curious how old are you?

second, you should not take on repairs that you are unable to complete....thats why you never see me offering to fix green lasers, because my knowledge is limited...so i stick with red and BR.

third, you obviously send the laser back in horrible condition, way worse than received, regardless if it was working when you got it, you still managed to disassemble, break and disfigure the entire thing in your attempt to fix it.

fourth, for a laser that retails at $299, i would leap at the oppertunity to make things right for only $100 and consider yourself lucky..

Niko, before "you know what" is mailed. this issue needs to be resolved.
