I think you should've just left it as the original pic. His avatar was just one sided enough as it was!

How do you think he'll get on selling a couple of Arctics over at PL? (Thanks to a member digging that one up ;) ). I don't think it's going to be very pretty.

It's a bit risky selling something like that second hand though isn't it? I mean, is the warranty transferrable? Does he state his returns policy? What's the customer service like? Practice in the mirror Plexus, "I'm sorry for your loss... I'm sorry for your loss... I'm sorry for your loss......."

(This, of course, in no way implies that, "I'm sorry for your loss", is just a brush off. It was quoted merely for comedic reasons. When used by high profile sellers here, it is a genuine sentiment. Used after selling an Arctic... Different fish.)

To sell a Laser pointer/portable on PL is SUICIDE...
The majority of the members are Anti-Pointers/Portables
with a passion... IMO
And they will let you know....

The sarcastic posts are already racking up and I actually felt sorry for him for a second. Out of the frying pan... It looks like he's received a PM from a PL member so that may have cleared things up. You'd recognise the name so maybe he's found some solace ;) .

I wonder if those Arctics are the first batch of orders purchased for $197? Profiteering to recoup stupidity losses? They are G1s and I thought that meant they were the early version. Apparently the 1.1W model showed a status of, 'sold', here but maybe it fell through for some reason... We, (LPF), are not privileged enough to be allowed to buy them now it seems.

Oh well...

I wanted to let you know of my customer experiences with jayrob and flaminpyro. First of all, they are both very responsive to emails and very helpful in terms of helping to determine what I needed in achieve my goals (best quality build components). They both will answer questions in a useful and direct way. And if I had any concerns or special requests they were also responsive and helpful.

I am going to post a review of their SH-032 copper kits. In terms of customer service I had an issue with each seller. With jayrob, I found his kit hard to work with because of the need to screw in the heatsink retainer ring (stock) while ensuring the copper heatsink spins exactly in sync with the retainer ring. I was very very careful about this and gave it a few trial runs with no driver installed so i could get the hang of it. When i got it together, no light. I removed it, again being very careful to turn the two at the same time. What happened was there was some difference in them spinning together and there was a short that killed the flex drive. When i told jayrob about this and what a pain it was to deal with his design his reply was "its just a different design, not better or worse". in other words, i was on my own. Granted, it wasn't anything he did that caused this problem, nor did his product "break". but the point is, there was no support other than a "sorry for you loss". so after you buy from jayrob, assume you are on your own if you have any malfunctions due to the nature of his kit where the components needs to be meticulously spun together. assume you are on your own and possibly ensure all electrical connections are insulated in the event you don't turn them exactly right. jayrob will offer condolences, but there will be no offer to help with the costs associated with damaged components.

With flaminpyro, I purchased the some host kit. His kit is much easier to deal with than jayrobs because its a single copper piece that replaces the retainer ring. nothing to screw in meticulously. also there is more room in the heat sink to work with (although this means less copper which I will address in my review). In this case, everything went well and the 445 worked. However, at one point from a cold start it started flashing on and off regularly. i turned it off immediately thinking the micro boost i used was over heating. i let it sit for about 10 min and turned it on and the LD came on for 1 sec and went out. dead. I took it apart and saw no issues. I tested the driver on my dummy load and it appeared to be working. I removed the lasorb from the 445 LD, installed it on a new 12x 405 and connected it to the micro boost after dropping the current down to 500mA. It came on properly. I disconnected the LD and put it on the 445 LD I bought from flaminpyro. nothing. back on the 405. worked. conclusion: the 445 LD i bought from flaminpyro died and not from a problem with the build.

After I explained all this to flaminpyro he agreed it was the LD but refused to provide any compensation citing that if the LD was the issue, then the issue would be with casio or nichia. I explained that as a retailer his responsibility is to his customer (me). But I told him I would not tell him what to do but that he should do what he felt was the right thing to do. With that he bid me a nice day (eg. no refund or other compensation). I would have agreed to split the loss and buy another one from him at 1/2 price, or something like that but no offer was made. So again, with flaminpyro if you have a problem you will likely be on your own with it.

Just letting you know. They are both very helpful and wonderful to deal with pre-sale, but post-sale there is no love.

Gotta love it when a person's obvious inexperience and lack of knowledge is somehow everyone else's fault..

Dude, Jayrob and Pyro have been around here awhile and have great reputations. I've done business with both of them myself. Don't you think it's odd how you're the only guy here with these issues? I know I do..

Next time, instead of trying to ruin other people's reputations because you don't know what you're doing, perhaps it will help to get a clue first.

Also, just FYI.. in the entire world of lasers there are NEVER any refunds or returns on LDs. Period. It doesn't matter if you bought it from Flaminpyro or Thorlabs. The reason for this is because LDs are exceedingly sensitive to everything. The retailer never knows what kind of skill set the buyer has, so therefore there are no refunds or returns. Knowing and accepting this will save you MUCH frustration in the future, and it will save others from being victimized by your misplaced emotions.

And finally, I've observed you removing posts you've made here in some misguided attempt to "punish" the forum.. trust me when I tell you that there is nothing you can add that can't be added by someone else.. do us all a favor and get lost if you don't like the people here.

You can't get rid of him that easily EF. PL sales section! Check out the post above yours, it might be pertinent to ask the question over there about whether they are in fact early, much cheaper than sale price, versions.

Read this.
It revolves around a video games rental store in Toronto.
There are some quite "alternate" ideas of the term "Customer support".

"The door is on your left" :D

That was funny Toke!

Thank you. :)
I think I am on a roll here*
Next will be a tread of where my 12x 405nm GB is, and the peltier elements from borch, plus the 3 x 300mW LOC's from styropyro's sleeds that does not work anymore. And one of the red/ir 4-pin you threw in that did not work just because I were drunk when decanting it.

Or maybe not. :D

*Or at least quite far into a can of good decanted red wine.

NOOO! Not another trash thread!

If you do decide to do one, credibility says you should probably start putting the, "h", into the word thread! :D I think that counts as a spelling and grammar nazi comment, (I can't remember where that puts me on that internet pic posted somewhere recently. 8th level?). Sorry, I've seen this typo in a few posts. ;)

Thank you.
That is great advice, tread vs. thread.
And no, I have no intentions of looking like an idiot. :D

Was not referring to anything specific.

Just saying we all have times we can look back at and say WTF was I thinking.:banghead:

And it is even better when you have an audience to share those moments with.

Wonder if Plexus will look back some day at this ordeal with the same thought.

Also looks like Plexus ordered a couple of diodes form Yobresal. Hope his name does not get added to the title of this thread after Plexus blows them up.
