Re: Boned by Ben74

Good idea, but not for the middle man. A couple of transactions here and there, fine. But not too many people are going to want to do it on a regular basis.

Re: Boned by Ben74

This guy scammed for 30 bucks?! Unbelieveable, and this is it - he has reputation points (a lot) just for 2-4 pictures he posted.

I think you guys should think before giving these points, if I needed I would buy it by myself from him, because of his reputation points I wouldn't have a problem to trust him.

I'm puzzled. Why does anyone think of rep as anything more than the numerical result of a popularity contest? Some dude could show up, be a funny guy, get some rep, and then scam everyone in a giant GB. Rep means literally nothing. Would you trust some dude off the street with some "rep" rating for a financial transaction without investigating further? No? Then why do it on a forum?

For those who think there should be a transaction reputation rating, we already have that in this forum, and it's far more reliable because it isn't some numerical value, it's someone going out of his or her time to give a review of a transaction. For those who don't have a review about them, just check their purchase history by looking at the threads they've participated in/bought something in. At the very minimum, the only person you should buy from is one that has bought from others, or who you have some recourse against. It's really not that hard.

Don't let greed cloud your judgment as well. Remember that Adam scammer? He scammed people because people were greedy and wanted his "$250+ worth of lasers" for $70--as a Paypal "gift". If it seems like too good of a deal, it probably is!

Seriously just do a paypal dispute and you'll win this case easily. He sent nothing and has no proof of sending the package. You win.

Re: Boned by Ben74

I have edited my OP a little- would like to give Ben the benifit of the doubt--------------Well the other parts-(btw the time allowed to file a PP dispute is long gone)

I paid him PP== he said he sent it-- i waited-- a long time-- i PMed him about it-- no answer for a long time-- saw that he was on-line-- PMed him again-- this time he DID get back saying he had sent it-- I said lets give it a little moar time-- still nothing-- got back-- he said he would return my $$ and that is the last I heard from Ben 74-- Did he intentionally scam me-?? I like to think not-- am I trying to scam him---for 30$?? c'mon ya'll know me better than that!!- LOL

I think it got lost in the mail coming from UK-

- I have a few things MIA right now and I am going to send another package to both guys-- nobody's fault-- but makes no sense to insure a less than 30$ item from or to a trusted member---especially when I am not makng squat on them...

btw I never used the words scam or scammer=did not give Ben any neg FB-prolly should have never mentioned it-- I guess I was experiencing angst because of Adamasshat- Potoatohead and Andrew 'sh*thead' Biddar.

all three are 1%ers fo sho!!

=AFAIK - Ben has NO history on any kind of past dealings gone bad..He is still on my friends list--since then I have gotten plenty more good deals on dichros-- but that BSC was a nice size one--

Thankfully its only $30. He should at least do something to make it right. Its never cool to ignore a problem. Resolve it and everyone is happy.

How about we start allowing only >100 posts members to sell on the BST section?

Why should rely on another "number" to represent the trustworthiness of a member? We've seen what the like of people such as Potatorage have done with > 1000 posts under their belts.

It's simple: cover your ass by 1) making sure you have some recourse (disputes, etc.), 2) doing some research on who you're buying from, 3) using methods such as middlemen in unknown transaction situations.

Look at Laser_Ben's.... heruursciences's and DaOo's Post counts...

The best way to know if you should deal with a member is to
read up on him/her on the Forum from past dealings before
taking a risk...and ask questions....
An educated choice has less risk attached... IMO

Don't forget.... Buyer Beware

@ BB.... great advise...

So maybe a sticked thread for bad sellers?
We have a thread where if some member does something wrong they get linked in the thread, that way if any one wants to search about their history it would all be in one nice place.
It would be there name and then a link to the thread under it.
the search is not the best sometimes.
