Its obvious that BH wasn't trying to harm anyone, I have been in his shoes trying to do ANYTHING possible to get to someone before its too late, and I'm sorry if it sounds rude, but if that means someone will be out some money for a little while extra, then so be it because they can be refunded at ANY time, a sick relative may be leaving for good... In all honesty If I was the buyer, I would be more than happy that I was able to help him get to his relative, life and saying goodbye when that time comes is more important than getting money or product in a timely fashion... I've missed the chance to say goodbye before and that is something you regret for a lifetime unlike being late for payment or product.

bhwollen: You did what you had to, I'm sorry for the loss, don't feel like you've done wrong by any means. Concentrate on recovering as much you can...

I also have to agree with Wolfman on the general point he made - ie with respect to future transactions. Other people that may be reading this thread. It's just generally a bad idea to take payment ahead of actually having an item created. I really can't think of many situations where this is a good idea. - Perhaps a really custom item that wouldn't have value except to the person commissioning it. But for a 445 laser, considering the vast number of 445 lasers moving through these forums constantly, I just don't know that it makes any sense for buyers/sellers to exchange money ahead of goods actually being available.

We do this all the time in GBs... I've seen members send $$
up front for things to be produced and I have seen at least
one GB that has not ended yet after making members wait
way over a year for their paid-in-advance product...

It is common practice to receive a deposit of ~50% of the total
costs of producing a "one of" product that is obviously not
sitting on a shelf ready to ship.

This is to help source the parts required and not put all the
financial burden on the seller. It also shows that the buyer
is serious and binds the deal...

BTW... I haven't seen a response from Femto Doc after his
1st post....and he was on the Forum at 2:15 AM today....

Also sorry to hear of your loss BH..
And if you had sent the laser out as-is this buyer would have even more reason to be unhappy. So IMHO you did the right thing -- He should have accepted the $200 and gave you the time you needed.

I too would rather read an 'intro' post than a complaint for a first timer.

WELCOME just the same.

Thanks hak. But this was ll resolved. He gave me the time I needed to order the replacement parts and send him the finished product. He stated in a different thread he was very happy with it.

Then maybe he should take the time to add RESOLVED to the
title of this Thread.

It looks like you still scammed someone...

BTW... how could he open this Thread and post on it
and post in a different Thread and only have one Post
to his name....

350$ for a 445nm laser?:tsk:

It depends on the laser. You cant just look at the price and make a judgement on the value. I dare you to ask DTR or anyone who builds 2W units to sell you one to your for $150

Its easy to get used to the dirt cheap prices but lets remember not all parts are created equal.

Things like this are exactly the reason I refuse to operate 'in the red' with the laser stuff. I learned long long ago that 'getting paid in advance for things I don't have' will generally always bite me in the ass in some fashion because things will inevitably go south for some reason, typically due to slow or uncooperative suppliers or hardware defects. People will rarely see me accepting prepayments for pretty much anything.

I didn't, however the laser was offered for sale before it was tested and ready to be shipped, correct? Otherwise I don't see where the problem came from.

It was tested, but it was sitting not in use until it was sold. And when I tested it before I shipped it, it was not working.

Just some proof to everybody.

Ah. Strange that things would die from just sitting but I guess the same thing happened to Aryntha's 589 GLP. I also don't think anyone is disputing that you got it remedied and sent the laser either.

I still do not understand why the OP title has not been changed??
He needs to do that ASAP- I would not be willing to do biz with him if that is how he left BH hanging-- its not rocket surgery-- just edit- go advance and make a new title-- like 'BH is a swell guy!!' or whatever. The title in the posts already posted will not change but the OP will and so will all new posts--
