Don't know, really ..... i found them in electronic fair markets (or whatever you call them in english), where i go time by time ..... are usually places where peoples go and buy items from sellers directly, don't think that they ship items around (overall cause i'm in Italy, here .....)

I think in the USA there are same markets types, i suppose they call them electronic fair ..... is "fiera" in Italian, and i think "messe" in German ..... and, but i'm not sure, i think it's feira de la electronica in Spanish (but my Spanish is terrific ) ..... there's nothing similar in Argentina ? ..... or shops that sell electronic components, and that have also those empty tools carrying cases ?

It could be translated as "Feria de Electrónica" but I've never, EVER, seen something like it here

I have to keep my camera inside the bottom drawer so as to protect it from everything (even zombies)... after 1 year of looking I still haven't found any good cheap case

I don't understand, Niko, are you like free-climbing with your D90...? Hehe, j/k - I also baby my gear - it's not like if I drop any one of those lenses I can just waltz in to a store an buy another... it would be like loosing a CNI 50mW 589...

Seeing as I can't take a picture of my camera... I'm taking some off the interwebz. I love my camera as it can take high-speed videos which is awesome.

Nikon D3 and D700. ...Nikon 14-24 F/2.8, the Sigma 50mm f/1.4, the Nikon 85mm f/1.4, & the Nikon 80-200 f/2.8. Also I have 4 SB-900 flashes, 2 SB-800's, 2 SB-600's, 1 SU 800, and lots of studio gear including soft boxes and octodome.

Is that the same as the M380? I couldn't find it listed on DPReview's extensive database, but it's often the case that a camera will sell under three different names / ids (U.S., EU, Japan, for example)... :undecided:

Nice portable! At 150g, you've got access to Av & Tv! A friend of mine is a free-climber and as you can imagine, has little place to lug along a camera, but has an Exilim attach to his person with a carabiner

Hehe, looks like I am in very good company around here... EMC² is obviously a pro and/or has taken the hobby to new levels, looking at his studio-quality laser work (photographs)! I'm not a Nikon man, but I believe the D3 was their first FF, right? Boy, that must have set you back... but then again, business is business :beer: And the D700 is your "walk-around" FF? Did you bypass APS all together? Enquiring minds want to know...

Dr_Evil, although I searched & I searched, I couldn't find any images from you here on LPF... :thinking:

Two Qs for my fellow Canon-er, how do you like your EF-S 10-22, is it sharp [enough] wide open (center,edges)? As for your quest for the 70-200 2.8, please be certain to check out the 4L too. The lens is much lighter and after some testing, sharpness was equal in most cases. In fact, I found the 4L sharper at f/4 (and I tested it against two copies of the 2.8) and the 2.8 is NOT that sharp at 2.8... :undecided:

I am of course talking about the "old" 2.8. If you are working on Wall Street and can afford the "2.8 IS USM II", well then, theat's another beast all together... :evil:

I only now noted your link o) and there's no "and/or" about it: you're obviously LPF's one and only prfessional photographer... I'm not done yet, but from what I've seen, very, very nice work! I love your astrophotography work: it was a dream my Dad & I shared a while back but we never quite managed to pull it off. Had the telescope, had the camera, but never managed to buy (or make...) the connector. Now that I can afford to give it a try myself, I just may...

Indeed, I have so much to learn from EMC^2. The D3 is a beast.

May I ask, why Canon? I chose Nikon over Canon because of the camera's ergonomy and button disposition.

These days I just use my Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom, or my Nikon CoolPix 5700...

But I have all my old gear from back in the astrophotography days. (old school)

A couple of Nikon SLR bodies that I used for attaching to my C8 telescope, and a couple of nice lenses. One is a 500mm f/8 Reflex-Nikkor. Which is not that great for normal photography, but very nice for astrophotography...

That's an easy one - it's all in the timing...

1991: my first "real" job (read: with money in my pocket, even after paying all the bills...)
1991: My first SLR (analog, Minolta X-700)
1999: My first digital camera (non-SLR, Nikon CoolPix 950 - $1,000... )
1999: My first dream of owning a Digital SLR (thanks to the Nikon D1, roughly priced at $6000... )
2003: The first "affordable" SLR hits the market (300D) - but I'm still not convinced to go digital...
2004: The Nikon releases the D70, which blows away Canon's 300D...
2005: My decision to finally move to digital
2005: Canon releases the 350D, which blows away the aging D70.
2005: I buy one of the first (...of 100,000) 350Ds - $1,000 (hmm...)
2005: Nikon releases the D70s (too little, too late)... .

Once you invest in one brand, buying flashes, lenses, remotes, etc. your hands are kind of tied. I have friends who have dumped their entire rigs to switch, but I personally like my Canon gear and (of course now) the buttons, functions & menu system is just fine!

So sure, once in a while I daydream about having a D90 because although my memory is a bit fuzzy, I recall a few reviews that said the D90 was the best thing since sliced bread... But like, the 50D ain't no chopped liver, neither... !

Very cool, Jay! Seeing as they say that the devil is in the details, what bodies are those? Why haven't you considered going digital, given that Nikon is the only camp that didn't change their mounts when they went from analog to digital (although quality may not be up to digital's unique requirements)?

The FM series is a still a cult classic... :bowdown:I also remember a few daydreams about the pro F4/F5 with their extra-long motor-drive bodies :beer:

I'm not personally familiar with the 500D but I've heard good things, particularly if you want a swiss army knife-like SLR that can also record Full HD video... Although I am a Canon man, I would suggest you compare the 500D to Nikon's D5000 which also appears to be quite nice! Use DP Review's comparison tool - very nice (you all need to bookmark DPR - it is absolutely a great website / forum for digital photography!!!)

Last but not least, I don't know your budget or your skill level (have you ever used an SLR before, do you shoot a lot, regardless of your current equipment, etc.) but the "Rebel" series of bodies are really small, imho. I mean uncomfortably small, if that makes any sense. The problem is that they have such a shallow grip that you are constantly digging your fingernails into the body... :-/

What I'm getting to is that if you have the $ and if you have the desire to pursue the hobby with any amount of intensity, I would highly recommend shelling out the extra $200 necessary to make the jump to the 50D / D90 level. These are real-men's cameras!!! I'm talkin' man-up cameras here, soldier! *Hears the FF owners rofl, "go FF, you girly-man"* :crackup:

Whatever you end up buying, enjoy it and keep us posted :beer:

One just has an 'F' on it. Looks old. I picked it up at a camera swap. Just for attaching to my telescope.

The other is an FG-20...

I never really got into the CCD stuff because when it first came out, it was really expensive, and I already had all my stuff for film. Then I kind of got away from the astrophotography hobby. If I got back into it, I would have to go CCD...
