Upgrading Graphics card any suggestions?

I was upgrading from a 4670, so this is actually a major upgrade

Ahh well, the longer I wait the better the upgrade I can get =P

MM it could be worse. You could have the 8400GTS.

I did the same thing this summer but without the expensive stuff an i7 really isn't needed for high quality gaming. Most games right now dont support 12 virtual cores so a lot of it goes to waste. I got an AMD Athlon X4 2.9Ghz and it works great along with my new Radeon HD 6850. No need to spend so much on an intel processor if you don't need it. Put the money elsewhere like a good graphics card and reputable parts.

i7 processors have 4 virtual cores and is not an overkill for current game demands. an i7 930 is the most common choice of today's gamers. I myself has an i7 950 and am overpleased with it.

As for the upgrade suggestion, i suggest you save up for a new system rather than upgrading.

Those are actually four real cores, each supporting hyper-threading. Hyper-threading make a processor/core present itself as two processors/cores for the OS. Some i7 processors even have 6 cores (i7 980X).

Before I upgraded so my motherboard could support more RAM, I found 2 cores more than sufficient for games, especially since many of them still rely on just one processor. However, some current games, and future games will benefit from more than one processor, so it might be worth your while to plan for that.

Also bet on being able to overclock your processor. You can get a lot more mileage out of "entry level" processors by overclocking. +800Mhz in speed and significant boosts to the RAM's speed is not unreasonable to expect.
