Anyone one know what is a good program/device to transfer vinyl LPs into a computer for burning onto a CD? I don't want to spend a fortune, as I only have a handful of LPs that I want to transfer (stuff that is rare and no longer available on CD). I hate to spend a bunch of $$$ for something I'd only use a couple of times, but of course I want something that works reasonably well.

You can just get yourself one of these handy adapters, plug it into the line-in jack on your computer (should be blue), plug it into your turntable, and use any sort program capable of recording audio (I dunno what's good.. I used to use a program called CoolEdit to do this), then just burn your files to a CD.

The formal name of this adapter is a "RCA to 3.5mm" adapter, though if you walk into a radio shack and give a vague description with waving hand gestures they'll be able to figure it out.

If you have a Creative audio card, you probably have a program called Creative Recorder - you can tell it what format to save the audio as, and where you want to record from (line in on the back of the audio card) and away you go :) It's a very easy program to use

Thanks - I'm sure I have a program that would record it - just needed a way to get the sound into the computer.
