I've recently been looking around for a 12V power supply that outputs 40-50 amps. Seeing that commercially made SPSs are not cheap, I've settled on using a computer PSU(Probably in the 650-700W range). I've noticed that most of the computer PSUs have 2-3 12v rails; unfortunatly the individual rails don't provide enough current. Would it be possible to parallel them together to get the full 40-50 some amps I need?
Another concern I have is the gauge of the PSU wires; I'm pretty sure they're not rated for 40A. Are the wires isolated from each other or are they in parallel to their respective supply rails?
Any info would be appreciated
