My battery is like a damn brick, plus the weight of the PT-54/gopro/FPV transmitter/foam landing gear its probably tipple yours.

Those are some Awesome pic Things! Really nice results

Thanks for Sharing. Still haven't taken the plunge. Looking forward to an FPV rig someday. I like the idea of remote flying with a headset :D

Your neighborhood looks so nice. Everything green and the mountains in the back. Florida sucks lol. After we clean up for dinner im going to try to get a video of the red led from the copters prospective.

Edit: Sadly once I got above the trees and houses the wind picked up and to counter that the camera and LED would no longer be looking down so I had to keep it below 30 feet. If I had my laptop with me I could off ran it in GPS hold and taking it up at a few hundred though I don't think the square would still be viable to the camera at that altitude (gopros are terrible at night). At 300 feet I have about 100x100 square that illuminates enough to see fairly well and scare neighborhood children. The on off is me messing with that channel on my transmitter. Had to tie it in to trim pot so its not physically a switch so I was just getting used to stretching around the transmitter with my finger and rolling it. I need a 10A driver now to get this thing to its full potential :)

Living in the tropics has it's downfalls too, it's so disgustingly hot and humid in summer :( Not even 10am and it's already 36C apparent temp.

The LED add on is awesome, I gotta try that :D

Winter temps here are around 20-25C during the day and 12-18C at night, if you can call it winter :(

Now ready for some night flying :D

Installed some strips of RGB LED and 2 separate IR controllers for the front and back arms. You can see them in the heatshrink to the left of the battery in the 2nd pic.

Damn you getting me back flying this thing! JK I needed a boost back to it. I dont enjoy having a laptop with me when I'm flying but I have a app that ties up to the telemetry on my phone. Sadly it never really did any good because I had no where to set my phone to view it. Until tonight. I was thinking I could just mount it to my transmitter so if I get real high I can just switch to instruments and still have control over height and position. I also tend to pull to much throttle when I want to descend at high altitudes because I can't see its reaction. This should solve all that :)

My phone is now mounted right in the middle. No clue why it thinks I'm in Africa wihen there is no receiver handshake.

Just two right angle braces bent to hold it. When I tighten that screw it clamps down tighter.

When not in use I can keep it on the transmitter so it doesn't get lost.

Nice idea, I use telemetry on my phone too, and also thinks it's in Africa when you have no link lol.

Yeah, I know what you mean about not knowing what it's doing at height, I had mine up to 100m the other day and kept freaking out that it had lost connection, just cos I couldn't see it react.

Nice! Presumably you were flying FPV?

Couple vids I made and forgot to include:

And tried out the LED's tonight, they make orientation so much easier!

Flying aeound the house was fpv. In the backyard I was just watching it. Got caught up between the house and fence and had to almost go full power to get up over the AC unit. Cant remeber what its called but I have seen some helicopter crash in Afghanistan for the same reason. Lost thrust due to the wall and fence recirculating the air.

Yeah, air flows up the side of the fence/wall and creates low pressure under the copter, can mess badly with your barometer too.

Some more updates on Das Drone!

Fieldview 555 LCD monitor, Long Range RC FPV mount, 5.8 Ghz reciever, 2400mAh lipo, TX balancer with neck strap, telemetry hooked up to my cell phone in press fit mount for the phone. Didn't want to velcro it because I don't want that crap on my phone lol

Ready to go fly! Except its 25 degrees out :(
