Well I am rather tired of my current PC being slow as crap (barely runs DOOM 3 on ultra and only 43fps on max settings on WoW)

so in the next few months I'll be collecting parts and I was wondering on what everyone on this forum thinks.

I will need a new processor, graphics card, mother board and power supply.

so...suggestions on what I should get and price ranges for them max budget is about $400 for this project (few months to get the money up)

New Egg is better than Tiger direct anyday.!!!!!

I have dealt with both, tigerdirect usually gets stuff to my house within 1-2 days with their 3-7 day shipping. some stuff on there is cheaper than new egg and some stuff on new egg is cheaper than tiger :p got 4gb of DDR2 ram for $22 shipped and a 1080p 24in HD moniter for $200 shipped with a 2 year warrenty from them. and from newegg I got a samsung dvd burner for about $50 a while back, took about 2 weeks o_O

(I'm in detroit for the time being) if that matters for the distance of the distribution centers for each site. tiger is just south of me and idk where newegg is)

Newegg has distribution centers east / west & mid.

I get things in 1-2 days as I am close to one of them.

It's good to see you posting again, maxkillz.

The only thing I would reconsider is the mid-end GPU. Typically with mid-end stuff the GDDR interface is cut in half in terms of bandwidth, and other corners are cut.

I have always found that when faced with buying either the current generation mid-end or the previous generation high-end, it's better to go with the older high-end.

I think what I put together for you has most things, a decent graphics card which runs most games well. A good processor and motherboard which work well together for good overclocking possibilities and a good brand name PSU, you don't really need more than 500W for your set-up :)

I have a GeForce 9500 in my computer. It was only 80 dollars from dell (even cheaper from newegg probably) and it is really nice. It's a good bang for your buck. I recommend it :)

All the 4xxx series cards are getting fairly cheap now with the 5xxx release. For your budget Id reccomend a 4850, there cheap now and will pack a good punch for a while.

In the cpu department go for whatever dual core fits your budget. Dont forget ram, unless your moving it over from your old rig. Although a newer setup might benefit faster ram.

I actually have my desktop for sale if your interested, would be a decent machine for your price range if your interested.

has anyone heard anything on the EVGA GeForce GT 240 512MB DDR5 SuperClocked EVGA GeForce GT 240 Superclocked Video Card - 512MB DDR5, PCI-Express 2.0, DVI, HDMI, VGA at TigerDirect.com

Decided to get a AMD Phenom X4 9750 Quad Core to go with it on ASUS M4N78 Pro GeForce 8300 Socket AM2+ Motherboard

would the graphics card go well with it? or what else in that price range would be good?
max price for graphics card is $120 or so that I can spend.

I just want to be able to run games like DOOM 3, World of Warcraft COD4 ect at decent framerate. around 40-60fps at max settings
