im starting to study for my ccna cert and was wondering what do any of you IT professionals recommend as far as study materials. ive already got a router simulator to play with from boson but i need to learn more about the theory and basics of how everything works. any recommendations re welcome but id like something thats pretty comprehensive and covers evrything from the OSI and TCP/IP models to router commands. im jumping into this with very little knowledge about networking (except on home routers with graphical interfaces) so any help is greatly appreciated!

hey sup man

having completed ccna, ccnp, ccsp i can say the most important thing is not giving up when things don't work. the only way to learn in networking is to fail many times at something first (e.g. screw up a configuration, having to do things over and over and over). except there to be a lot of pain and annoyance at first.. locking yourself out of router (almost guaranteed to happen lol).. stuff like that

i would advise this book and forum:

Amazon.com: CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate Study Guide: Exam 640-802 (9780470110089):…

Lammle Forum - Powered by vBulletin

also cisco.com has an official discussion forum which is a great resources if u get stumped

anoterh GREAT resource... IRC

check out #cisco on irc.freenode.net the people there are very helpful

the next $50 i receive in software purchases on deeptide will be forwarded to Drew to help him buy stuff along his studies. i want to see u succeed with this and tear it up=)
