I'm more than happy with my ipad 2 - its a great little machine.

My next computer purchase will be a laptop to dedicate to quickshow, so will just be a cheapy.

But my next major electronics purchase will be the quickshow itself.

Good thing about the ipad is I'll be able to select cues in quickshow over wireless so I am not tied to the damn laptop doing the laser show :)

mmmmm VNC goodness. One of my favorite things is to pull out my phone and start controlling my lasers with it. The responsiveness is shit and it's terribly impractical but it's fun to show off..

Yes, for good reason. One of the reasons Apple has been so popular is that the hardware undergoes massive quality control.
as I said, LG enjoys working with iOS and apple for this reason. Easy.. all they have to do is make a retina 37" screen and the hardware runs it without tinkering around.

i bet you do cant say anything about if apple will use this in their displays? ^^
Apple Invents New Laser System & Ready to Move to IGZO Displays - Patently Apple

Hmm.... ??? What was I saying? Apple is and has publicly already stated they are working on a Retina based TV. I used 37" as an example... I KNOW it is much larger than this.
As for how it will run... I can't guess.
Actually I have already had my hands on the display in question. IGZO. They are amazingly thin. Currently there is one that is rollable. That's right.. it rolls up like a mat and it is less than 2kg. I can think of all sorts of uses for that. It's a full 54.6" across.
About the IGZO... These are backlit using new OLED white technology. These displays display 2K natively. so HDMI 1.4. RGB OLED technology is outdated. The life on these is 5% loss of brightness over 24hrs. less than 2-3 years total.

so if used 20x24 hours it doesnt give any illumination anymore or am i reading that wrong?
if it also saves battery and looks as colorful as the normal OLED's, i hope apple implants this in the new ipad 3 :)
We can only hope...still at least a month away until release :(

yeah I see how slow this is when doing LMI over 3g to help friends with their computers - I take control, and fix the problem. Its like using a computer from yesteryear, but if they need my help urgently, and I dont feel like leaving my current location, grabbing the ipad and remoting in is the next best solution. Beats carrying a lappy everywhere. Example at the pub the other night enjoying a drink with a couple of mates and having a yarn "So your remotely controlling Chri's computer from your ipad? thats neat!" (obviously not heard of Remote desktop etc!)

I laugh when I produce it and friends ask "hey you got angry birds on that" and want to play :p (yes I have all the angry birds games - excellent timewaster while waiting for the train - or on the train when stupid cityrail breaks down) :)

Productive gadget? so so.

Media consumption device? Definatly.

Yes, right sort of... There is a chip in the RGB OLED that adjusts current to the blue OLEDs to make the display look brighter. Problem is when the Blues burn out completely, so do the rest of the RG OLEDs. Kinds sucks!

Apple is going WOLED in just about all their new products. WOLED in Ipad 3 is a sure thing. And it's retina screen. 2K res.

It will be quadroupled according to every rumor:D
Meaning 2048*1536 :D
The ipad and iphone are both 2 excellent pieces of hardware.
You know thats 50% more than 1080p resolution.
When was 1080p not enough?
In a new iDevice iPD3 i would rather contemplate the design with 1080p!! Also the 2048*1536 means that ipd3 is a 4:3 device which im pretty sure it wont be, rumors are stupid!!
If someone would say new ipd3 will be high speed, nice camera and whatnot i would believe it!! but when one quote the specifics that dont even make sense, its definitely not exciting..

No.. WOLED is a white ~6500K full spectrum OLED. It has a completely different chemistry to conventional R-G-B OLEDs. Life is suposed to be the same as regular LEDs (15,000 hrs). Even seen a demo of an WOLED flashlight that touts 9.5-10K Lumens! that's right! and its totally flat! As for viewing it in full sunlight..... Not sure.

Blue OLED dye for RGB OLED displays are problematic. WOLED is a backlight technology whereas RGB OLED is a printable display technology that was invented by Sony almost 6 years ago.
The idea was great, however it just needs further development.

1080p vs 2K ... no difference in ratios 2K has 16:9 and full HD 1080p/i is also 16:9 as well.
Sorry.. check the tables again.

lol nice about the flashlight. you must have a awesome job :D

Actually a small update today.
Sounds like a new generation of LG screens will be going Ultra High Definition or UHD and going up 84". UHD is classed as 4K resolution. Equivalent to 4 x 1080p screens at 1000dpi. This ties Panasonic's current $500,000 cinema screen's resolution.

I want one! Problem is how the hell do I drive it. current 2x Blueray doesn't cut it yet. With the next generation of Bluray disks ie) 4-5 layer 12x media, should be ok. The HDMI port is not yet capable of allowing 4K out from players yet.

Well i guess with even a bigger battery, the life will remain 10 hours.

Well crap. I just ordered the iPad 2 and now it looks like the 3 will be out right around the corner. I suppose it is always like that though.
