well after much waiting.... i could not wait anymore. I got a financing denial from dell something about not being able to identify my ssn? Anyhow... i ended up buying this: Toshiba Satellite® L675D-S7052 17.3" widescreen Laptop

I really appreciate and welcome all the great ideas and suggestions from the forum i just was not able to afford what i truly wanted without financing. I ended up buying this laptop from best buy for 649$ + tax. I only have one problem with it and it seems to overheat with any kind of intense gaming.... I fixed that with a cheap dual led/fan usb thingy i got from ebay. So... again thanks for all the great suggestions. I will be handing out rep for those who kindly devoted their time to suggest.

Question.... would any of you know why my memory is overheating? Also would upgrading to 6-8 gb help the problem?

Thanks,
Jeff

Your memory is not overheating, the Processor/Graphics processor/Northbridge chipset is. They are all connected with one big copper heatpipe which has an aluminum spreader at one end and a fan blowing through it.

What's common is when you leave your laptop on bed or other types of clothing and fabrics, the airway gets obstructed. Always have your laptop on flat clean surface.

Also, every two months or so, it would be good idea to take it apart to clean out the airway from accumulated dust. What I don't like in Toshibas is, you have to take apart the entire front mask with keyboard (removing around 25 screws in the process) to access it.

But we'll get to that.
