Hmm. Yeah, the 100kV mark probably wouldn't happen. Probably gonna stick 35kV, which is what my flyback will be outputting.

use a mazzilli driver - it uses a pair of mosfets whose heatsinks are a drop in the ocean compared to the atlantic ocean of a 2n3055 driver heatsink. They dont even get hot :)

you can also tune it by changing the output cap for the biggest spark.

I still have that dream of an electric glove, but if it's too dangerous, I won't be rash.

Sometimes dreams should stay dreams. I'm all for insane, dangerous projects. But only completely safe ones. Wearing this thing will not be completely safe. Nothing is 100%, and accidents happen to everyone, even the most cautious. You could die, or kill someone else trying to rescue you. I like the idea of doing it, but on an exhibition type project. Like the glove mounted to a plastic hand, mounted on a base. This will show proof of concept, and you will have a working model to show off. Picturing you in an Iron Man outfit with 30kv arcs jumping from your hand sounds like a kids dream, and this is by far a kids project. Its great you want to get into HV, but save the theatrics for prop based projects. Nothing is worth your life, or hurting the people that surround you. A simple muscle spasm can end it all.

And, having built 2 myself they aren't too finicky. However, they are quite capable of delivering +400Ws at over 60Kv from a flyback. Get a shock from this and it most certainly stun you! DONE THAT! (of course by accident)

MOSFETS are far more efficient at processing high power than any 2N3055s would ever be.

NOT FOR BEGINNERS! PERIOD!

I like TJs idea! I think I will do that :D Keeps me out of harms way, yet still shows off the neato electric glove, eh? Will make for a good conversation piece!

And hey - maybe someone will be inspired by it to produce one that is wearable!

You could steampunk the hell out of it, and make 7 inch arcs without worry. Throw it on a nice oak base with a knife switch to start it. The sky is the limit because you dont have to make it safe to wear.

I'm making a steam Jacobs ladder right now. If you need design help let me know. I've been doing art since I was a kid.
