BIOS changing parallel port settings?

I need help changing my BIOS parallel port settings. I am running a Vista Home Premium OS and need the help so I can run Jerrys 2.5w LPM.

I need to get my Ports tree visible in my Device Manager and have searched the web for 3 or 4 hours with no success. When I enter my BIOS, I have no idea as to where it would be. Right now, my device manager looks like.

As you might notice... there is no Port tree. Anybody have any ideas as to how to fix this?

In my bios, there is no obvious setting to check under, the ones available to me are

Why do you want to play with the Parallel Port...:thinking:
The USB driver installs on the Serial COM Port like
I said in the numerous PMs we exchanged today...
I just sent you another PM and will send SS of what
you should be looking for..

In that case, how would I access the serial com port?
I looked around on the internet and people said I needed to change my parallel port options in my BIOS to be able to view my Port tree, and from there I would be able to see my com ports. Is this right?

To tell you the Truth... I have no clue...
Maybe a Vista 64bit member could chime in...

I'll know more when I'm in the shop tomorrow
doing a few tests...

Alright, thanks for your help. Just throwing it out there, I'm running on a Vista 64bit.

You shouldn't need to do that under win vista. Install the drivers on the software cd and reboot the machine. Then insert the laserbee usb plug, it should self configure. Install the lpm logging software and once launched pick the comm port from the drop down menu in the software. You will likely only see 2 so even if you cant find the virtual com port in device manager trial and error should do it.

If i understand correctly the laserbee device has a built in usb to serial adapter.

When I plug in my USB plug and then open the interface software and then click "options" then "comm port", nothing happens. No windows open and no dropdown.

On the instruction guide online, there is a dropdown arrow next to comm port, but mine does not have that.

Ok so lets go back and make sure you installed the correct version of the drivers for your OS. I think there are two sets of the disc, I installed both to eliminate guessing and it will do no harm. Do this while the laserbee is NOT plugged in to the computer. Then restart and plug it back in. You should see some confirmation from vista that new hardware is being installed.

Do you have any other issues with other devices or any windows issues apart from this?

When I install the HL-349-W89 setup.exe it simply says "Driver install failure!" (However, Jerry said that installing this was unnecessary for my circumstances)
The other driver, PL-2303 installed just fine.
In the NETFRAMEWORK2 folder...
dotnetfx2, when I try to run that it says that it can't install on a 64 bit OS, so I downloaded 3.5 from another website.
when I try to install Windowsinstaller3.2, it says "not enough storage is available to process this command", when I have over 500 gigs of ram.

Try this :

Go to windows update, check for latest service packs and see if there are dotnet framework updates available.

well it looks like I have 4 gigs of important updates... I'll see ya guys tomorrow.

Alright, so I went to windows update and downloaded netframework 4.0, restarted my computer, uninstalled LaserBee Interface, restarted my computer, reinstalled LaserBee Interface and then plugged in my LPM.
When I plug it in, it says that it's an unknown device, but has been doing this all along.
I still see no dropdown for Comm Port.

When you say laserbee interface do you mean the metering software or the drivers?
