True. It wasn't a matter of opinion either, for example they stated that nobody has ever enjoyed an escort mission ever (true) and that the DS and Wii raped the opposition (also true whether you like it or not!) Portal was one of the most fun games I've ever played, and it has decent visuals to go with: really clinical and white, like I'd expect in a science lab. Orange Box was the best $50 I've ever spent, even though the games contained within broke some of the 7 Commandments. And I will rock you anyday on Delfino Square on Mario Kart DS. :D

Yeah, so right.

Good things to remember here, since I'm planning on becoming a game developer (though, unlikely for triple A games like those ones, unless I'm lucky). Instead, it'll be Flash games. Slightly different set of 'commandments' but same principles.

I especially agree with the first one, about the graphics. Good gameplay beats good graphics. That's why I think Flash can do well, since you can do quite good gameplay with it. Can't do much graphics, but gameplay is the strength.

Got to level 9, the only bad thing about those types of games is there so easy to cheat.

well i tried to make the 2nd one cheat-proof.....but theres no way to beat "hackers" so i'll just leave it to your own honesty :)

(i even added a tiny "mouse" in the newest version)

Heh, nice game. Nice idea to add an extra twist to all those damn mouse maze games.

But the games I make are designed to really push the limits of what Flash is capable of and go one further, you can check out my RTS in development here: http://murudai.com/dantal/index.html.

The 1 working level in that game really doesn't do justice to the complexities of the engine I've already made (I made a demo a while ago with 7 different buildings, 7 different units, on a map 4 times as large with 4 separate players, each computer player with full AI (and it didn't lag on your average computer) And all that is just by changing the external XML files that contain this data).

All I need to do is use the level editor I made, make some more graphics, make some cut scenes and I'm done... but I'm so busy lately that it'll be a while :(

the engine is cool, needs more FPS though (and an innovative idea!). but you're on the right way, keep it up :)
