Hey guys. As most of you probably already know, this forum uses the open source YaBB 2.1 forum. Version 2.2 is going to be released soon, and it will probably be possible to upgrade to version 2.2. the new version is expected to have lots of new useful features and improved security. I am not sure I want to upgrade the forum though, as they say if its not broken dont fix it. there are no known security issues with yabb 2.1. it has been out for a long time and is very reliable. I doubt i will be upgrading to 2.2 anytime soon; probably will wait until 2.2 has been out for a long time before switching to it.

Also, upgrading a forum can risk loss of data (even though i do back up the forum on DVD-R). it would still not be fun restoring a backup.

BTW if anyone here thinks we should upgrade sooner please lemme kno

Just wanted to let you guys know about this

if you want to learn more about YaBB here is a link

http://yabbforum.org

BTW

if anyone here wants to start a forum of there own and needs help uploading cgi/perl files, and configuring a forum, please let me know and i will do my best to help you out. i am quite experienced installing yabb 2.1 and setting up other cgi/perl forums

regards

I concur, man - if it ain't broke......

We all saw what happened to CPF when it wasn't broke.....HUGE mistake on Sasha's part there, if you ask me (I know you didn't) but to learn from her mistake - just say, NO ! :)
