Should all manually given reputation boosts be removed?

Should all manually given reputation boosts be removed, leaving only naturally rep?

should all manually given reputation boosts be removed? in the last week i received 4 messages saying that ppl think it would be good to reset this

all "natural" reputation would remain, e.g. someone giving reputation feedback for a post in a thread. none of that would be reset.

please no fighting about this, just post what u think about the situation

i am personally leaning towards yes since technically it is fair that all natural reputation remains.

A gift, once given (deservedly or undeservedly) , becomes the property of the recipient.

I think it works fine as it is, to be honest - nobody's rep particularly stands out to me as too high for what they've contributed on here.

Reputation points here mean nothing, which is why I didn't even bother asking to get back my old account with 140-something rep power when someone messed with it.
Personally I think the whole rep system should be removed so we don't need to have this pointless discussion over and over, and to avoid petty "reputation battles". IMO, all it does is encourage more drama.
Remove it, keep it, change part of it - I don't really care.

i have mixed feelings about the rep because it is abused..
It it the cause for lots of drama, but it is also useful to find out who is a legitimate seller and who is a scammer. From what i remember (i might be wrong) is that the reb boosts were given to members who had high rep points from the old site. that was a looong time ago.
from what it sounds like is .. some thinking others is too high.. that just sounds like more drama.

I think we should just leave it alone or get rid of it.

k thx for feedback so far nothing will be done impulsively dont worry=)

just bringing the issue up b/c i did recv a bunch of msgs about it this week

maybe the best option would be for me to ask the ppl that complained what specific ppl they think have too high rep , with logical reason for why they didnt deserve it

I think there should be the option to opt out of the rep system. Then the decent traders will show the rep they deserve and the bad traders will no doubt hide theirs.

All other rep is pretty pointless IMO

Couldn't agree more...

It's the reps that get tossed out by members during arguments that is really far more of an issue.

You might also consider if it is the same people who complained about it the last time we discussed this and maybe even if it is about the same people's rep.

As Lasersbee pointed out, we have already been through this.

"Sour grapes" do not make the wine sweeter.

If we can get the arguments squashed sooner, this problem should also be reduced

Is there a thread about how rep works? All I know is that higher members rep is worth more( I think). I know rep means a lot to people for how many hours they've spent here. Maybe there should be some kind of troll rep indicator, Like flashing lights around someones avatar.
But personally I think rep should only come out of buy, sell, trade transactions. Reading around a little + post count will surely show you who the trusted minds around here are?
But I'm new so I'm probably wrong

I think it might be fair to know WHO these 4 people are complaining
about and for WHAT reasons... and by WHOM... since this issue
is once again brought to the Forum Members about Forum Members
by Forum Members....
