It depend, if you load them on an external site (like tinypic.com or similars, or your own server), the forum don't put a limit when you link them as "IMG" tags (but is always better to considerate that the forum can be overloaded from too big pictures, and the page structure can become oversized, so in these cases is always better to post thumbnails that contains the link to the external place, or limit the pics, like, 800x600, or similars)

If you mean about attaching the pics to your posts, the limits are listed in the upload page that open when you click on "manage attachments" button, both for the size and for the weight (Kb), but usually is 800x600 .....

Embedded images from another site have no limits. Files uploaded through this site have a file-size limit,as well as a dimension limit, which varies from type to type. These limits can be seen in the "Manage Attachments" popout, when you hit "Go Advanced" to post.

Generally, you want to keep pictures smaller than 1280x1024 ... Apart from people with laptops/eeepc's, most people will have a monitor of that resolution or greater. These days, you can find 1280x1024 monitors everywhere :p

If your pic is too large, a moderator will ask you to fix it up :)

I have a huge satellite photo of ground 0 somewhere. Its a compressed file, and you can still zoom down to see people reading the newspaper. I'm sure uncompressed you could read the words on the page. Big brother is watching you.
