The problem seems to be gone.

I also did a trace route to the domain and something peculiar popped up. liquidweb seems to have a fluctuating ping
[tt] 19 141 ms 154 ms 570 ms lw-dc1-dist1-ge1.rtr.liquidweb.com [209.59.157.2]
20 141 ms 147 ms 141 ms host.tritoncore.com [67.43.10.51][/tt]

However, the site was not suffering a slow response time, rather a slow speed. My pages loaded with a maximum of 2 kb/s.

glad its working better now. once some more people confirm it is working well again i will try increasing the number of threads listed in a board from 25 to 40, and posts in a thread from 12 to 15. if nothing changes after restoring these settings to the original i think it is safe to assume there was a problem with one of the routers near the server.

when i get home i will be trying out a new modification for the forum that could increase performance.

please let me know any input about the sites performance-- the more feedback the better

happy to help

For me, it seems to work MUCH better right now, but it is still not loading as fast as usual. I am happy that you fixed the worst problems, tho. :)

hey guys, i have been researching this and can't pinpoint the exact cause of the slowness. i have only experienced this problem several times. over the last few weeks the server has had very little load on it.

im going to try installing a mod that will help with performance

doing my best to get this fixed

The only thing that seems to have the most trouble is the YaBB code thingy. That's where it seems to catch on most of the time.

So two suggestions with that: First, get rid of all those colours. We only need 20 colours, not 200. I've seen it wait while loading those for a while.

And secondly, do we even need the code box for the quick reply at all? I'd suggest getting rid of it. If you want to add code, you can just click the 'reply' button on the thread where the normal reply will have it.

i got rid of the buttons in the quick reply box. thanks for the suggestion, murudai. i honestly dont think this is the reason for the slowness- the colors and buttons loaded almost instantly for me. it is worth a try to see if this helps though.

please keep me updated on the site speed, any feedback is very helpful

regards,

Well, I like to have the buttons in the quick reply box, one less click you know. But sure, give it a go.
The box do lag sometimes anyway.

-No smiley because I'm too lazy to click the "Reply button" or "code" it, lol.
