Move the WL topic out of the 445nm forum?

I'd like to see the WL-related posts moved to some other forum section so that it doesn't hog the recent posts indicator for the 445nm forum (among other things). The 445nm forum is not a WL laser forum, and yet that seems to be the main use. This WL laser is attracting too many one-time members who are only interested in this one laser, just want to yak and speculate about it like they're on an Apple rumors forum, and will disappear after this is all said and done. These are not "valued members" in my book.

It used to be that "safety" was a suggested reason to hide the 445nm board from public view. I never thought, however, that a much better reason to hide it would be to keep all the fair-weather WL riff-raff from polluting the forum about a specific commercially produced laser.

Am I out of line here?

We could move it, but where to? It's still going to be in the recent posts list no matter where we put it.

Like I said before, Mods should approve new threads for new members in that forum. They should just be deleted and referred to the dedicated thread thread.

How about if we move all of them to the waste bin until someone actually as one in their hand? All we are doing is helping to add to the hype

Have you read through either of the threads we tried to use in this last adaptation?

I say we delete them all (to heck with the post counts) and stop being a breeding ground for WL sales.

I'd be fine with that. Like Badger said, WL has their own forum.

I think that really is the solution: keep conversation about the WL products on the WL site forum. The old threads can be archived/FAQed/deleted, but any replies or posts about that WL product should be taken to the WL site. I'd like to think that this site is mostly about making and experimenting with lasers, and that any references to commercial/completed lasers are kept in the reviews section.

What your suggesting is snobbery .... "keep out the riff raff"

Unbelievable

If many new people are attracted to lasers because of this new product comig here they can learn about safety rather than treating it like a toy

Many people complain photonlexicon is too high brow and elitist to speak and deal with laser pens ... what your suggesting is that laserpointerforums becomes elitist .... many of us are here becuase the heart was torn out of the lasercommunity forum when they turned it into a dictatorship

Bah your Sooo Wrong :gun:

well said!

I agree with BB...

Since the Thread in question is talking about a company and their
products and shipping practices I think it should be left alive...
but in the Company Review section...

but the thread in question is about this one particular phantom laser, not about any of wl's other lasers.

You can do a Company Review if you had a good or bad
experience with them or just one (1) of their products...
It still has to do with the company... hence Company Review
section...

but the thread in question is about this one particular phantom laser, not about any of wl's other lasers.

It's brought up questions about WL's batteries, tripods, lens kits, customer service, shipping practices and past reputation.

Answered a few questions I had anyway :yh:

These are all things that people want to know.

However, they are questions for WL, NOT LPF.

AND all of the answers are simply more speculation based mostly on the word of a CS person in China

WL specific info, not related to the laser not yet shipped, belongs in a thread about the company in the company board, NOT under the heading of a laser that has not yet shipped.

These threads are just angst flowing though keyboards

Peace,
dave
