I had a bit of slowness earlier yesterday morning, however its flying now. Myself I believe a DNS server somewhere was having issues stateside since UK members were fine.

Mine is running fast again.

If it was a DoS, why didn't it effect everyone?

true if it was a Dos everyone should have been slowed down.

when i couldn't surf the forum anymore i set up a proxy on my server that is located in germany and tried to connect to the forum, i got same results,
so maybe the attack was not directly to lpf but to a specific DNS server...

else whose who claims didnt feel a slow forum just didn't notice it.

there was indication that one person,or some type of scrapper bot, hammered the site for a few mins yesterday. it was a very short period. i have changed a few configs to help mitigate this and have threat detection enabled on the firewall

my bad in calling it a ddos, it was really just a 'dos' since it appeared one evil IP was involved.

yah it was from china actually. however thsi doesn't mean the attacker was actually in china. perhaps it was a compromised PC.

this was a scrapper bot that hit a lot of pages at once, the intent might have not been to cause overload, but just to scrape pages for content (e.g. emails for sending spams). perhaps was a poorly programmed bot not doing what the author intended
who knows lol

but it appears to be better now

i am actively watching logs tonight

peace

No "nuking autoresponders" ?

May be built an "authorized botnet", from all the LPF users, so when one evil IP try to hit the server, automatically all the connected users PCs hit the evil IP with nuking programs ..... SDDDOS ..... "self-defense distributed denial of service" program. LOL

(J/K :p :D)

I guess "black ice" is illegal. :D
(Or maybe impossible?)
