Sorry for the long delay in responding, ixfd64. I was writing my reply to you, when the site went down yet again, and I had to wait until after the site came back up (after 6AM this morning) before I could post this.

The reputation points seem to have been reset.
See Bug #13 above.

The URLs of the old forum simply redirect the user to the forum index. They should redirect to the new URL.
This is related to Bug #2, but was done after this list was first posted. This problem is actually a lot more severe that initially realized (possibly the most dangerous problem of all!), so much so that I spent most of last night writing a detailed thread dedicated to this major issue, which I will be posting as soon as I finish catching-up with this!

The "light" theme from YaBB isn't working.
Not sure what you mean by that one? If everything looks real black, try clicking the User CP button, find and click the Edit Options link, then scroll down near the bottom and find something about skins, switch from Forum Default to Default Style, and then click save (or something like that, forum went down while I was trying to check!).

There's another bug. It seems double quotes (") got converted to """ instead of the actual character.
See Bug #17 above.

Wow, I guess this list must be getting pretty well-rounded!

BTW, Traveller - I expanded Bug #17 based on yr additional data above, as well as replaced the "????" to give u credit! ;)

lasersbee, you make some valid points.

However, with regards to that comment, I would point out that at the time it was made (the site was refusing to display certain posts, and then database err msgs, and then browser connection errors, and then the whole site imploded, was down for over 8 hrs, then when it finally came back up late that night, everybody's work since the conversion had been vaporized, including 2 pages worth of "critical error" comments that even c0ld could not retrieve, and I had to restore this thread from my own hard drive back-up), I think at that point in time, it was a perfectly accurate description!

But that does not mean that things can't be fixed.

Warske, I have a thread I spent all last night working on that I will be posting shortly, that addresses your concerns.

c0ld, I'm quite honestly not quite sure how to respond to that. When you first asked for ppl to report any problems or bugs, I was one of the first ones to answer that call. I posted the first bug list (before there was even an official one), and was working on that Sat. night until after sunrise.

While I would agree that many of these items are not critical, I would remind you that you did not originally request that we list only the life-threatening ones. You did not start doing bug "triage" until things started to go south Sunday, and then went from bad to worse when the site imploded.

But the fact that not all of the bugs above are serious, does not mean that we should go into "ostrich" mode and ignore the ones that are! Your statement that everything is now "hunky dory" defies belief, unless you have made some MAJOR changes to the system in the last five or ten minutes that I am not yet aware of.

In particular, I was up all last night working on a post detailing the full ramifications of an issue that several others here have already briefly touched upon, and which is possibly the most dangerous problem LPF currently faces, more devastating than even a complete implosion of the database! I will be posting that shortly after this, and would ask that you reserve judgement until after you have had a chance to read it, and ponder it's full ramifications.

On a personal note, I have gotten myself into a bit of trouble because of the massive amount of the time I have spent the last few days dealing with these matters. I've barely slept the past few days. I have clients screaming because I am falling behind on their projects. I am falling behind on my own obligations, because I cannot collect for things that aren't finished yet. I even have plants that are dying, because I haven't had time to water them! THAT'S HOW MUCH I CARE ABOUT THIS WEB SITE!

The most frustrating part about this is, however, is that...

MAN, you don't have be dealing with this all by yourself! There are PLENTY of smart, well-qualified members here that I am sure would be MORE THAN HAPPY to help!!! (myself included!) One of the other members already suggested a solution to one of the easier problems. And just off the top of my head, I have already come up with viable solutions for several of the more serious issues - including some of those caused by ineffective conversion problems. I would say just getting the conversion issues fixed is likely half the battle right there!

But you don't know how incredibly frustrating it is for some of the more technical members, when you see literally YEARS of posts getting mangled, and you know you have the technical ability to prevent it from happening!!!

Anyways, I am getting rather tired now (as I have been up since last night dealing with all of this), so I am going to try to get this stuff posted and then get some needed shut-eye!

Less-critical problems that I have noted include:
  • white, non-underlined hyperlinks in skilltest cannot be seen against normal (white) text.
  • Avitars are 80x80
  • "Edited on" post tags come too early (~1min) and should be delayed for about 60min (imho)
  • A temporary (say, 60min) "delete post" option would be nice too...
  • Profile pic is limited to 100x100x64K.
  • I forget. (tbd... :p)
Hey C0ld,

I've noticed a few of my issues above have been since corrected, thanks  but I'd still llke to see the following taken care of. If you don't agree, for wahtever reason, then please at least say so so that I can stop bugging you ;)

  • white, non-underlined hyperlinks in skilltest [still] cannot be seen against normal (white) text. (But Darkshdows is OK now!)
  • "Edited on" post tags come too early (~1min) and should be delayed for about 60min (imho)
