I miss his presence here, too. He was a real asset - chock full of accurate information. He's definitely underappreciated.

he definitely had a different point of view about lasers, and the law when compared to many people here on the forum. But I agree that his knowledge and apparent respect for professionalism, is something that is quite necessary and still important to have here on this forum. I never talked to him, or He to me, but I hold the utmost respect for him since it WAS VERY OBVIOUS that he knew what he was talking about.

I think he might still be found here:

Frothy was on his way out the door well before he blew up in that thread. He had posted his intense dislike of the new forum format in a couple threads and had made comments that he was not happy overall. The linked blowup was just his own anger getting the best of him and regardless of his knowledge, the personal attacks were not warranted. Be nice to have him back here and sharing his knowledge but he doesn't get a free pass simply because of his knowledge.

I do hope he returns but I'm not holding my breath. There are others here with ample knowledge to share, and all of his old posts are still here to review.

On this forum he does. Everyone is allowed an outburst once in a while...especially if you have the knowledge he shares. You on the other hand are an entirely different story. I don't think to many people would miss you.

I would sure like to see him come back, I know the newbs and the ignorant can get you down, but if I need to spend time on 4,5 or more forums to keep up on a hobby interest, I may simply not have the time. -Glenn

Actually, if I remember correctly more than one long time member called him on it. I want to say C0ld did too but it doesn't interest me enough to bother looking up the thread or the various other posts about frothy leaving to verify.

Yes, I am sure not many people would miss me... or you...or many others here. I know you were trying pretty hard to insult me but you really did miss the mark on that one as it did nothing more than produce a chuckle from me. There are only a handful of people on this board that truely would be missed by many and that contribute substantially in knowledge and materials. (Of course you and I are not such people)

At any rate, Frothy is gone for the forseeable future. It sounds like he had numerous reasons for leaving and we should just be happy that he was here for the time he was and he shared the knowledge he did.

I don't think he should come back. I think he should stay elsewhere, and that's only because half of the people here didn't listen to him. I think he was a great member, but I think he did the right thing too. Weather you want him back or not, he's not coming back. I'm sure there are a few people, including myself that have considered leaving too. For many different reasons which I'm not going to go into unless anyone wants me to ?

Regards,

Adam

I would really like to hear it. I'm afraid the problem with the veterans is that they do not like tons of people to spam the forums with the same questions many times, wich is not a good reason IMO.

Anyways, not to offend, but I'm interested in knowing what the problem is :p

Maybe it was the fact that he gave advice to people and they argued against his and other peoples advice, even though that it was a process that the people giving the advice had been through, and had experience in. The fact that the advice was ignored and others thought they knew best when in fact compared to Frothy and the other members who were giving advice, they knew nothing of what they were speaking.

Another thing that's ticked a few people off is the move, and the fact that there are so many noobs asking dumb questions ( which is fair enough , everyone has to start somewhere ) but when you tell them what they should do, they ignore you, argue with you or just tell you that you don't know what your talking about. Now when people *ask* for help, then someone who knows , clearly, what they are doing helps and the person needing help argues against their advice thinking that they know best, THATS when people get pissed.

Would you not get pissed if someone asked you for help, when you know what you're doing, and that person told you that you're wrong and that they know best. Would it not piss you off if LOTS of people did this ?

There's also the fact that a lot of people here immediately shout "SCAM !" as soon as someone who has no rep and very little posts , posts a thread selling something. Even if the person who says it's a scam doesn't know of the seller, and hasn't tried their product! This just drives sellers off.

To anyone who is offended of my use of language, I apologize. Just (hopefully) getting my point across.

I agree with all of your points Adam, especially the ease at which people shout scam

AMEN!!! Nothing pisses me off more than when certain new people ask a question, and then when they get an answer they say it's wrong and that you don't have a clue. Why the F are you asking if you already know the answer?
