Hmm, well, lutefisk and trasi I have tried. Something about the way the balut/century eggs look is definitely a turn off though.

After all this food talk, I think I'm going to a cheese store for lunch :p

Isnt the poison Lye used in lutefisk?

I saw it on Man v Food once :)

What is 'poison lye'? Afaik it's just lye, the kind you use to unclog a drainpipe. Obviously thats not good to ingest in large amounts or high concentrations, but there is noting really toxic about it.

^^ I'm just going on what Adam Richman called it, and he said it was a poison, so amma pass on his ignorance.

Edit, it is an Alkali , so you can either eat it, or strip the chrome off your bumper with it

And also according to wiki, it is used in lutefisk.

I'll pass ta.

I suppose so. Lye to me is sodium or potassium hydroxide, as used in preparation of lutefisk, century eggs and what not. I was just curious if there is some other caustic substance used in food prep that actually is both alkaline and poisonous.
