Ok, I have just finished AIMing with Pseudo, and he said he will post info here either tonight or tomorrow, he is really business, so I doubt it will be tonight.

BTW, he did mention that they are >OD5+ :)

Damn, well it looks like I'm gunna have to take the OD 5+ comment back. Visually the blockage looked the same as through my OD 6+ sport elites (the type that Novalasers sells). However that was just because of the goggles fluorescing. Its hard to put a definite figure here since I can't assume my extra IR filters are perfect, and its hard to measure such low powers with my equipment, but the OD seems to measure somewhere in the 3-5 range.

That said, here are my opinions on the small portion of the goggles that I got (I was sent a ~1"x1" sample):

First off, my complaints with these NesShades are like my complaints about the OD 6+ goggles that NL sells - you cannot see the dot. The visibility between the two is actually amazingly similar, although my meters to show the the OD 6+ as blocking much more green. With a 50mW green though, you can't see the dot at all unless you're really looking hard for it. To me, that is a critical problem. Protection is good, but when you have to take the goggles off to aim the laser there's a problem.

The other issue I have is VLT. The non-green light trasmitted (you want this to be high), is slightly lower than with the WL lasershades, and a good bit lower than the NL OD 6+. Its not bad by any measure, but it leaves room for improvement.

So here's my ultimatum on them:

- They provide more than adequate protection for any greenie you're likely to have (easily good for 1W+ of 532nm). If these goggles are much cheaper than WL or NL, they will be good budget goggles as they definitely provide the protection.

- If you aren't on such a tight budget, both the WL and NL goggles are better. The WL lasershades/sports elites would be my personal choice as they also provide good protection, but let you easily see the dot. The NL goggles have the same fatal visibility flaw as the NesShades, but offer better VLT. So in either case, you get what you pay for if you pay the premium.

PS: Sorry, too lazy/busy for pictures right now.

To add to what Carter said about the visibility, these shades will not let you see your dot from far away, but it allows you to easily see the dot up close, I used it a lot for burning, and I never had to think twice about where the dot was. I also have experimented with my WL 5mW CORE and these shades, and I can easily see the beam on my hand, but it's hard to find it on a bright wall 10ft away.

Also, I think an optical density of 3-5 is pretty good, it may not be the 5+ I was hopping far, but it's defiantly enough to protect your eyes.

I will most likely put up about five for sale in the next week, and depending on what people think about them, I may sell more.

What about ones that protect from red lasers? Is it possible for you to obtain any like that?

Sorry, no luck with glasses for 650nm :(

But if I do find some, you can bet money that I'll sell them ;D LOL
