Somehow the big football countries are disappointing:

England, Italy, France and now Portugal... omg these teams played really not what I was expecting from them :yabbmad:

Germany and the Netherlands beeing the only Teams that could convince me

I totally agree Burnsy. No flare and what could be called, 'lazy', football.

Even Brazil didn't really seem to be working hard today until North Korea scored. Fantastic forst goal from Brazil but I don't think it was a shot at all. That was meant to be a cross! It has to be said though this game was, for me, the highlight so far. 2nd half was good football by both teams and North Korea could have made for the first shock of the competition. 2 close misses as I remember from them.

It should never have been such a close game though. North Korea a seeded last and Brazil first for gawd's sake!

Scores are up for today's... Three games tomorrow - Group A: South Africa V Uraguay. Group H: Honduras V Chile, and Spain V Switzerland.

Good luck to all...

I must say that I was positively surprised by North Korea tonight!

This is shaping up to be a good tournament.

^ True, true!

I'm nowhere near my local talent for football understanding or punditary, (the guys in the local pubs hereabouts have very little else to live for!), but I think the competition will really get started when we're at least down to the last 16. It gets a bit more serious then. Germany will definitely go though and the rest of the, 'expected', will have to start putting up a fight at least. If North Koreas and the other, 'close game', survivors show well in any of their next games then it could be an interesting watch!

It's still early doors but even this early on I have a rare sense of excitement about this World Cup.

(P.S. Thanks to all the contributors to this thread so far. I wasn't sure how it would go down but the trickle now, I hope will turn to a torrent later in the competition! Keep it coming!)

WOOOOOOHOOOOOO we won against spain!
We beat the Euro Champion hahah that was so cool I was sure we're gonna lose about 0:3...
Even though spain really played better I have to admit but that's football you don't know what's happening until it does
Well funny goal, we were lucky and that's it. The result is what counts :D

What a shocker! The favourites to win beaten by Switzerland. Like you say though Burnsy... That's football.

South Africa can't be feeling too good either. They were stuffed with 3 goals against. That means they HAVE to win against France to stay in. The odds are not good for the hosts... :cryyy:

Chile V Honduras? Didn't see that one but at least it wasn't another draw.

I think we've seen all teams play now haven't we? Noone really sticking out for me yet except Germany.

Any thoughts about the complaints made against the competition ball? It does seem the players have been having trouble controlling the lift when taking shots and free kicks and skying over the bar. I think this is showing in the score lines. Enough shots on target, just no movement from the ball. The altitude apparently has an effect too. Balls are going long too easily and bouncing higher. Once they start to, 'get hold', of the ball then this may change but it'll be disappointing if none are able to make the adjustments.

Scores updated...

^First ever goals at the World Cup too! Well done Greece. Happy for ya Silvershot. Bet you weren't expecting that?! Buzzin' for sure!

Well, some real football today! (Except from France!!! :na:)

South Korea were... Plucky is the word I'd use. Great steal for their only goal. I liked the ckeek of that one. Even though Argentina were clearly the better side SKO didn't seem daunted by them.

Mexico did well so it wasn't all France's poor show but there is something wrong with their team spirit. The substitues at the end should've been begging to go on and help but they just seemed to not want any blame for a hammering. Shameful. It does give South Africa another chance though. If they win against France, (and it looks like anyone could right now), they may still be in the next round.

Important one tomorrow so it may be a late one in posting, (I mean later than tonight, oops!), as I'm in the pub watching the game so if we win, well............ I think you can guess the rest! It'll be - :gj:, - then -, then - :friend:, then - :drunk:, then - :banned:!!!

Hey, consider yourself lucky it ended up as a draw! It so easily could've been a lost game the way it was being played in the first half. Technically should've been a win for you guys though. I missed their last, 'goal', but from the shouting at the TV I heard, even if it shouldn't have been allowed, there should've been a penalty for the three USA players being physically restrained!

Tough score in the end but at least there is some drama in the competition now. It was so boring to start with. Talking of drama; Germany losing to Serbia?!!! Surely not! That does make me feel a little better for some reason though. They are fallible after all.

I hope England don't let us down tonight...

Small this time, Come on England!!!
