It's amazing that the GTR, being a V6 is even being compared with something like a vette. Yeah, the vette barely beats the GTR because its engine it twice as huge lol.

It's amazing that the GTR, being a V6 is even being compared with something like a vette. Yeah, the vette barely beats the GTR because its engine it twice as huge lol.

The ZR1 uses a 6.2L so that makes it 2.4L bigger. The LS9 is also a pushrod engine. Not a DOHC engine. They could probably get more power is they used DOHC. It also appears that the ZR1 is .4 second faster in the 1/4 mile using stock tires. And it looks like it can do the 1/4 in about 10.7 seconds using some better tires.

Corvette ZR1 runs 10 second quarter mile

As far as fuel economy, the bigger motor gets about 1mpg less city and highway so I don't want to hear that the Nissan gets a lot better gas mileage.

The superior engineering thing cracks me up too. The Vette is 500 pounds lighter...

We all have our dream cars. If you like the Nissan, who cares. I like my true muscle cars better. There really isn't any replacement for displacement either.

I wonder how long the engine in that rice mobile will last? I know the Mitsubishi Evo engine is only good for about 30k before it needs major engine work. Good friend of mine is a Mitsu nut. He's been buying Evos since the Evo V (he also works for a Mitsu dealer as a mechanic). I mean he drives 'em hard (it's a sports car, duh!), but 30-40k? At least they have a good warranty.

The Chevy engine in the Vette is of course bulletproof. Easily get 100,000+ miles driven hard.

i got to say i have been watching those electric cars and they are going to shake the auto world just give it about 3 years.
cops vs cars is going to get alot harder 2.3 sec to 60mph in slightly above average joe car is going to be great.
my car used to be the mclaren F1 but with the new electrics i am in love.

I was actually referring to the Z06... 7.0L engine.

These are dream cars! Who said anything about fuel economy? :thinking:

lets also not mention how the vette drives like a board... ive never liked the handling on vettes... EVER...

vettes may be good for 1/4 mile or whatever but put them on a road course...

Thats because of the mid engine design. They handle really well, you just need to get uses to it.

Also the weight between the GRT and Vette is a highly contributing factor. You really cant compare the 2 cars. One has a high rev, light weight, tight ride. The other has thunder under the hood, heavy, road huger. Its all in your taste. They have a go cart that can run circles around both, but its all in what you like.

Haha, I remember running one of those on Gran Turismo 2. Put every mod possible on the thing and had like 1400hp and would decimate anything. Then, I found hacks that let me just give it even more ridiculous power; I think it showed up as like 6000hp or something. It would just make this strange high pitched whine as the traction control tried to tame wheelspin and it would just take off... I think I hit over 300mph on it, but I typically ran out of track before having to slow down, haha.

My dream car (that is coming true)

Not the actual car, but I'm waiting on a similar looking one (in black) to be done. 1998 Eclipse Spyder GST: Convertible with hopefully around 300hp after tuning. Wish it was AWD, though... damn Mitsubishi only made them FWD in convertible form.

Corvettes suck on road courses? Tell that to these guys...

Plus, you should check out Top Gear's results with the Stig, they've done the Chevy ZR1 and the Nissan GT-R. The Nissan on a dry track bested the Corvette by less than a second, but the Corvette was on a damp track. Top Gear says a damp track typically adds about 2 seconds on their track, which would put the Corvette faster around the test track than the GT-R.

My GFs uncle has one of those. He said the handling sucks.

The bad thing about Mitsubishi is that the motor (and most of the rest of the car) craps out at 100K miles.
