Only very old (16-bit) apps will flat-out not run, the rest almost all work perfectly (WOW64 is very good indeed). There may be some older or badly-written apps which have slight bugs although these are very rare indeed. Some drivers are 32-bit only, but that's only for older devices and isn't a problem with any hardware I've encountered.

Ok here's a something to include in your answer, how much RAM do you use as well?

6Gb, might as well add this in, i7 1.6Ghz Quad core 3.3Ghz turbo mode, 1Gb nVidea GTX 260M, 500Gb 7200 RPM, all in an Alienware M15x

Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on my desktop.
Ubuntu 10.04 32bit Netbook Remix on my netbook.
Ubuntu 10.04 32bit server edition on my proxy server.
FreeNAS 0.7.2 (ZFS) on my 10TB NAS boxes (2).
Centos 5.3 on my SQL/FTP/WWW server.

Plus VMware on my workstation (for testing), Sun VirtualBox OSE on my NAS and Netbook (for running XP and Windows 7 Ultimate).

My kids (3) all run Ubuntu 10.04 32bit. My grand daughter is too young to use a computer just yet lol. My wife also runs Ubuntu Netbook remix 10.04 on her HP Netbook.

i have windows vista ultimate x64 but im considering upgrading to windows 7 soon, i've been just too lazy. i can't really imagine stuff being any faster i guess, have 8gb ram quadcore laptop. the main slowpoint for me is fulldisk encryption but i have 7200rpm HD, don';t think upgrading to win7 would do anything to increase my disk access speed

for server os i prefer centos

i use fedora from my 16gb flash drive (with persistent storage)

my laptop has 2 internal HD's of exact same size, so i boot from the flash drive into fedora, run the dd command, and copy one disk bit for bit to the 2nd one to back a complete backup of my system=) do this once a month or so.

I'm running Isadora 9. You just can't beat the visual effects and features! I actually used Windows months ago, and I hate it now. What bugged me most was the inability to force quit ANYTHING...
