EDIT- Latest update:
Everything is now done and dusted. The member responsible for the hoax has been banned.
CJ has also been banned for making inappropriate remarks about Marianne. This ban has since been lifted.
Anyway, to anyone who was involved in this- good work; we handled this very well. Good to know we have a solid response even without a prior action plan. Safety remains the first priority.

This has turned out to be a false alarm, set in motion by a chain of actions that came together at the wrong place at the wrong time. The user is indeed a troll, and has been permanently banned. This user is not capable of causing harm to either LaserChat users, or LPF members.
The dropping of Mibbit users was the result of ECNet's anti-bot system, triggered by the troll.
This member is not an LPF member, a check of the LPF IP database turned up no results.
Having said that, though, I do not feel that we have overreacted. I (on behalf of the OPs) do believe that we have handled the situation appropriately, and to the best of our ability. This has been the first incident of this kind during my short stay on LaserChat, and we do value the safety of our users. Although it is a hoax, we have, and will continue to treat any threat as legitimate, and deal with them as seriously as we have done now. We will not be taking any chances especially when it comes to cyber-security.
We understand that some of our members are not as computer-literate as some of us. As a result, we are obliged to ensure our users stay safe, computer-literate or not. It can be simple to brush these threats under the carpet, but one never knows when a threat is legitimate or not. It is up to us to take precautions, and make sure all of our users are protected adequately.
All users have been informed of the correct methods to secure their computer. Any user requiring help can simply ask either me (goninan_bl00d) or Things (Things) either here or on LaserChat. We have done what we can server-side, however, users also have to do their bit too- and we're willing to provide help.
Nonetheless, we still encourage others to join LaserChat. We're a growing community- and you never know how it's gonna be unless you join!
No longer relevant, for archival purposes ONLY:
Less than 10 minutes ago, we had an unidentifed member on LaserChat. He was quick to insult the majority of the members in the room, and was kicked as he was breaking the ToS of LaserChat.
This was proceeded by quite a few of us terminating unexpectedly as he left the room. Normally, when someone gets kicked, all other members are unaffected.
He has also threatened to take action against anyone who he has the IP of. We do not yet know whether he has the ability to do so or not, but until we know for sure we will be playing it safe and preparing for the worst. Although it simply may be a troll, we take all threats seriously and the safety of our users is top priority.
Here's a warning to whoever that was- we, as a collective, have the resources to find out who you are. You don't stand a chance. We have the evidence, and logs. We have everything we need. Such abuse and cyberthreats will not be tolerated.
If you are caught, the information will be handed to the relavent police authority, and you will be prosecuted to the maximum extent to which local and/or international laws allow.
In the meantime, I advise that everyone who has visited Laserchat in the past hour to insure they have proper Antivirus and Firewall software installed, updated and functioning.
